So how do we fix the deadness?

I miss all the posts.  I know our lack of posting is cyclical, and it will come back at some point, but I miss you guys and all our posts.  We hardly even talk about books anymore!

  • This is our slow time at work and I'm reviewing documentation, so I'm bored out of my mind.

  • Are there buddy reads or any read-alongs going on right now?  Maybe do a round of those?  That usually perks things up a bit, doesn't it?

    Not a bad idea!

I bet if we could even get 10 people to post about the books they are currently reading, that might help!

I am game for a buddy reads or read along.
Do we want to try something new like a Ten Things Tuesday or something along those lines?
  • I've been in a real slump. Besides it being busy season and having a baby who doesn't like sleep and just isn't going to do that anymore, I don't have much time to read. When I do have time I can't get into anything. I've started about 5 books and a few audiobooks and nothing is grabbing me.

@snshne322- I'm reading Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) and I want to gauge my eyes out.  I can't stand Sydney.

  • I've been reading a lot of NA and romance-type books that are 99 cents in the Kindle store.  They're horribly written, I'm too embarassed to tell anybody about them, and yet they're like train wrecks.  Can't. Stop. Looking.
I have a friend who pretty much reads this kind of stuff only and then calls herself a bookworm.  We all have our cheesy phases and guilty pleasures (cheap kindle stuff definitely qualifies  ;-) ), but if you read nothing but books with nearly naked buff dudes on the cover, I call in to question your bookworminess.

Really, though?  I think of a bookworm as someone who always has their nose in a book.  I don't care what the book is, if you're always reading, you're a bookworm.

She gets better in the third book.  But the first two had me wanting to shake her until her teeth rattled.

This is me right now. I am cheap and these are a guilty pleasure :) I really need to start going to the library so I can read better books, lol.

I would LOVE to do another buddy read or a group read. Someone set one up! (I'm horrible at organizing things)

Good point!  It's sad to come on and see the board so slow.  This is my retreat!

  • I'm so busy. I'm never even on until after 9 pm each night. DH and I are both working 40 hrs a week, plus I have 3 classes, my baby sister moved in, and we're house shopping. But I'd love to be able to check in during the day on my phone and post.

  • I came on over the weekend and there was hardly a single new post.  It really depressed me because I look forward to all of the book posts, NBR posts and polls.  Even if I don't have time to post, I enjoy reading everything.

I'm trying to read/listen to Gone Girl.  I'm about 80 pages in... not much progress since last week.

  • Yeah, my job has been cracking down more on non-business internet use. It goes in cycles. They're more strict about monitoring the first few months of the year and get lax about it as the year goes by. That leaves me to breaks and lunches and any other time I'm not at work or school.
