Why was a Reuben sandwich not on this list? It's the only thing I look forward to on St Patty's day.
Although we used to go into downtown Chicago for the St Patty's day parade in college. Underage drinking, everyone handing you booze, loud music, and a green river. It was always an interesting train ride back to my apartment.

I can't believe y'all haven't heard of that! Maybe it's a Texas thing? I dunno. I grew up doing that in school, church, family.. EVERYONE I know pinches! On St. P day when I was little, my dad would come in and start pinching us until we got up

Here's a history on the pinching. I couldn't remember the history with it but now it's all coming back to me! In a nutshell, legend says that wearing green makes humans invisible to leprechauns so they can't kick/trip/pinch us. If you don't wear green, you get pinched to mimick a leprechaun "harming" you.
It's silly, but fun! I used to wear something hidden (socks/undies) and then I'd get pinched but since I was wearing green, I got to pinch the person back 10 times! Cheating yeah, but whatever. We were kids.

ETA: it's totally an American tradition and has no Irish roots from what I can find!

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermEach year, millions of Americans annoy the Irish by referring to St. Patrick's Day as St. Patty's Day. For the record, the correct short form is St. Paddy's Day.
According to the Provisional Government of Paddy, not Patty, the d's in Paddy come from the Irish spelling, Pádraig. Visit their site to be chastised in a proper Irish manner.
