Re: QOTD 3/12

  • We actually just bought all new laundry stuff since we're switching to "green" cleaners. We found that Method is the most affordable green cleaning brand. We've been using their all purpose cleaning spray for years, but when Target had a 25% off offer for Method on their Cartwheel app plus Method was already on sale, we added the laundry detergent, fabric softener, dishwasher tablets, and hardwood floor cleaner to our cleaning arsenal.

We used to use Tide detergent and Target brand fabric softener and dryer sheets.

  • We use HE green detergent (usually 7th generation but we just got the big Costco brand one to try). Then I usually get the up dryer sheets. I don't use fabric softener

  • I have super sensitive skin so we use Country Save powder detergent. I use no fabric softener and no dryer sheets, only a dryer ball.

  • I use Tide HE that is scent and dye free. I don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets because I'm very sensitive to smells.  I have a  dryer ball that I use sometimes but I mostly just walk around with static-y clothes!

  • I mail order all my laundry products from melaleuca because I'm allergic to most chemicals.  They are a green company.  I actually order all my cleaning supplies from them.
  • I use whatever is on sale for H and I, no dryer sheets. For the baby I use tide free and clear, she has eczema and her skin gets irritated easily:(

We normally use Gain liquid detergent and have sworn by Downy fabric softener.  One time, H and I both bought different fabric softener not knowing the other had already gotten some.  He got the cheap stuff and I got Downy.  We could totally tell the difference between the two and have stuck with Downy ever since.

  • We use purex detergent. Cold water for us, baby for the kids, and free and clear for the cloth diapers and we use bounce dryer sheets for clothes and dryer balls for diapers. Laundry is complicated in this house lol
  • We use Gain liquid (bought the giant bottle with spout and just keep refilling it ), snuggle ( again giant bottle we keep refilling) for fabric softener and the matching dryer sheets to the fabric softener. We used to just use whatever was the cheapest!
  • I think dryer sheets and fabric softener are just a generic brand. The only name brand thing we get is Cheer detergent. DH has skin irritation from other stuff, so we switched over once we moved out.

  • I have bad eczema.  I use Tide HE Free and Clear detergent.  I get itchy just thinking about fabric softener.  I use Bounce Free and Clear drier sheets, just to keep the static out of my clothes.
  • We've been using the Wal-Mart brand detergent for years, but we bought the big thing of regular Tide HE for once that runs out. We are about to finish up Gain fabric softener and are going to try out some Downy. Our dryer sheets are the Costco brand.

Whatever I can get cheap at BJs
  • I'm super allergic to coconut (like, I will go into anaphalactic shock and die kind of allergic) which was never a problem. Unfortunately a lot of "green" cleaners are made with coconut extracts because they are non toxic (to most haha) and clean really well! SO, we use vinegar to clean most things, but for really nasty bathroom stuff I pull out the ammonia based cleaners. But for detergent I use arm and hammer sensitive, and most dryer sheets (as long as they are not "beach" or "tropical" scented) dont bother me so we use mountain fresh or rain dryer sheets. DH uses one, I use...too many. (It kind of sucks too that so many "hypoallergenic" and "sensitive" products are made with coconut. It's ok, I know I'm abnormal)
