Mr. Roger's Neighborhood is no more at Idlewild

http://www.post-gazette.com/local/westmoreland/2014/03/12/Idlewild-and-SoakZone-to-replace-Mister-Rogers-Neighborhood-of-Make-Believe-ride/stories/201403120160

I get why they are doing it, but it just makes me so sad.  And for what it's worth, my kids don't know Mr. Roger's but they LOVE the Mr. Roger's trolley ride.  It's a highlight of their yearly Idlewild trip.

Re: Mr. Roger's Neighborhood is no more at Idlewild

  • It's sad to see it go, but the updated one might be great, too. Change is hard!   We haven't been on the Mr Rogers ride in a while because the line is SO long and SO slow.   The wait is usually 45mins-an hour so we usually end up skipping it.    (Selfish parents!  My kids also don't realize there's a water park at Idlewild either.)
  • We went 2 years ago and the ride was a mess. One of them didn't work and the driver had to ad lib a bunch and I believe someone was missing a body part. I'm not invested either way, but they definitely needed to do something!

  • Amber- we kept the water park a secret from the kids last summer, too :)

We didn't do the Mr. Rogers ride, but I will say that I also think storybook forest needs an overhaul/makeover.  We went in there with fond memories from  my childhood, but quickly moved the kids along because I couldn't stand the musty smell in most of the places. I know that's mean to say, that it's kind of a big part of the park's history, but I couldn't help it!

Ok, is this weird?  I love that musty storybook forest smell.  I remember it smelling like that when I was little.   It takes me back.
