Baby Carriers

I registered for a Boba (which someone already bought yay!), but should I also add a more structured one on there?  If so, what kind would you guys suggest?

Re: Baby Carriers

  • The Boba is a wrap right?  If so, yes, def get a structured one.  We have an Ergo that DS still fits into at almost 30lbs and 35" and 2yrs of age.  I love it for adventures that aren't stroller friendly.

I registered for a Boba and am so excited to use it! I also registered for, and received, this more structured carrier. It's the Infantino Fusion Flexible Position Baby Carrier. I liked it because it wasn't super expensive, but it also allows for baby to have the proper leg/hip support. I've already played with it a little and am excited to use it!

  • I have 2 wraps already and I think we're going to wait to get a structured one so that we can see what fits DH well.

I'm going to follow this post though so I can see what everyone has

  • I had originally registered for both the Moby and the Boba, but then figured I didn't really need both of those right?

  • I see the Boba has a more structured line of carriers and also the wrap. The carrier looks nice! As for needing both the Boba and Moby wraps, I'd go with one or the other.

We registered for the Ergo, but I am not too invested in carriers one way or another other than to have the proper hip support. I just wanted a wrap, a sling (getting one from my sister), and then a more structured carrier that both DH and I could wear for longer outings, hikes, etc.

  • We had a KTan, which he really was not fond of, and ended up getting an Ergo, which has been fantastic! I was able to carry him in it at an early age since he was a bigger baby, and I use it pretty frequently. He easily falls alseep in it and it's very comfortable for me.

  • we have a moby but DS never really liked it. i am planning on wearing #2 far more though, so they will learn to like it or just have to deal with it since it will be a necessity at times. there is a boba wrap and a soft structured carrier. i would have both. we have the beco gemini and i do love it. i didn't want an ergo because i wanted straps that crossed over my back. i also didn't want to have to deal with the buckle behind my shoulders on the ergo. they're a nice carrier though. depending on how things go with #2 i may look in to a tula or kinderpack for DS.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • We had a moby and Mei tai for when they were small and preferred the Mei
    Tai.

For a more structured one we have the Ergo Performance and love it. I was still using it for Delilah when I got pregnant with zack, so it has a long life span. Plus it doesn't hurt my back. I've also heard great things about the Beco Gemini if you want a carrier that they can face outward in as well (Ergo only allows them to face your body).

Ergo is actually releasing a version that can face out soon!

  • it seems like the child really determines which carrier you'll ultimately use, which is a pain! ha

I have an ergo and I love it! I started using it once B hit 7lbs (around one month) with the infant insert. He still loves it!

  • My sister is giving me her beco gemini, which her DD still loves, but is about to grow out of at age 4. Both of her DDs loved it and she loved the versatility of it as well.

  • We actually bought a K'Tan from @caseyandlizzie, and it was great while she was a newborn. Then we got an Ergo so DH could wear her, and she prefers that over the K'Tan. I actually really like the Ergo; unlike the K'Tan, the weight is distributed to your hips instead of your shoulders, which, IMHO, is much more comfortable, especially if I am going to be wearing her for more than a few minutes.

  • I have a boba 3G. Love it. I also like the action baby carriers because you can cross the straps when front carrying and it seems to be a little more compact. Also not to pricey.

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
  • Oh I guess I will add that my baby did not like to be carried with legs in so I had to wait for him to be big enough for legs out before using a structured carrier.

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
  • We had a Moby, a Ktan (which stretched and I only wore it around the house), a Boba carrier (not the wrap) and that was great I highly suggest it!  We recently got a ring sling from Etsy because he prefers to be on my hip and I haven't put him on my back yet with the Boba.  I use the ring sling seriously all the time.  Since he's gotten heavier it's so much nicer on my arms!!

  • we LOVE our Ergo!

how many/what type of carrier you use depends a lot on your lifestyle. I love the Ergo for shopping, clingy days when she's sick, flights, hiking/walking, and long trips like the zoo where my arms are not going to last all day.

I think the ergo is more comfortable for long use once LO got big, but I did use a ktan when LO was little, and sometimes now-- it is easy to throw in the car or diaper bag so I use it in unexpected situations
