Steph or Mana

What is the stuff you talked about for constipation? Can I have the link? My coworker is pregnant and having issues.

  • Thanks! :)

  • I took two Colace a day and used Miralax daily and it helped. I know you were looking for what they used, but thought I would throw out another suggestion.

  • When I worked at Starbucks, we used to laugh at all the pregnant ladies who would come in & order frappuccinos. I never drink them that often, but I realized why so many pregnant women did when I got one while I was pregnant. It's like to moves everything right through you. Or at least, that was the case before they changed the recipe.

I heard the first poop post delivery is the scariest poop you will ever take. I'm now more scared of that than delivery...

As long as they don't stitch up your butthole by accident I think it'll be okay...
Unless you have stiches in your vag, then it becomes a very scary thing. Your afraid to strain and pop a stich, but then think you will die unless you poop, then strain just the teenyist little bit and you can feel the stiches straining. No one wants to get restiched after something like that. Take the stool softeners they give you. It will at least give you peace of mind. Its way better to deal with loose stools than straining after already straining while pushing a 7 pound baby out.

The already moms told the first time moms on my bmb to start taking the softeners at 35 weeks to prepare for the first pp poo.

Are they something you can take on the regular now? I had a one day bout of "irregularity" yesterday and that is certianly not something I would even risk while pregnant. I swear its gotta be my coffee. I drink coffee I am fine. I dont drink coffee, I dont go.

Oy, maybe I dont want to have another baby. I have a friend that just posted about this on my wedding board and shes about as far along as you are. Shes buggin about the same stuff you are.

  • I haven't been able to stomach coffee in 2 months. It was the first to go, because it made me feel sick. I was told to use softeners sparingly. I'll probably take one this weekend, since it's been 4 days.

Me too!! And can I say I never thought this thread would have so many responses. Haha

  • @mana8503 you can take softeners when you need them. I was told they are a benign medicine so there is no harm to you or your baby. I seriously took 2-3 a day for 4-6 months of my pregnancy. Also...about coffee....Not sure if you are planning on BF or not....but if you are, there is chance you won't be able to drink coffee and nurse if you don't drink "some" while pregnant. I only drank caffeinated coffee on the weekends and decaf during the week and L hasn't reacted at all to my caffeine intake now....but I know several ppl who weren't able to reintroduce it while BF. ...ok end of my unsolicited advice. I found while pregnant and since having L that you will hear a lot of info and advice but believe you can only do what's best for you....I just wanted to share the coffee info with you in case it was relevant to you. Obviously if it's still making you sick it's totally not worth drinking it!

  • I'm starting to think my midwives are anti all medicines... I've been reading up on the softeners and I think I might start taking at least one daily.

And once I can stomach coffee I was planning on having some. I don't drink anything else caffinated , so I'm not too worried about it. I just can't handle it yet. I'm close.... I've been eyeing up my kerig on the weekends.

  • Is it bad that I remember my first poop after both kids with more detail than I do of the actual labor?
    A: 10.02.03    M: 01.28.11
  • I don't remember mine. Guess it wasn't too bad?

Someone taught me that if you just sit there with your mouth open so your jaw is relaxed everything will just slowly happen without any straining (waaaaaay TMI, I know.) It helped a lot the second time.

Yea I'm here. Maybe because I was all screwed up from the pain meds and T being in the NICU but I don't remember anything other than being happy it happened so they would finally let me go home.
