GTKY: Free

If you went to the store and the cashier forgot to ring up something would you tell them or be glad you got something for free?

Re: GTKY: Free

  • Depends on when I realized, I am pretty honest and believe in karma so I would say something if they didn't see it while I was there, but if I went to my car and realized it wasn't on the receipt I probably just say lucky me.

  • Normally I would tell them and know I have before.  When I was younger and broke I didn't always though.

  • I would say something. I've worked as a cashier before so I know how easy it is to forget stuff.

I'm here. If I'm already out of the store, I'm not going back in but if I'm still there, I would tell them.

This exactly. I wouldn't notice in the car, though. It's at the store or I would be home. I also do the opposite. If they double charge me, or ring something up but it doesn't make it into my bag- if I realize it at the store, I'll say something. If I'm already home, my bad.

  • H and I usually go grocery shopping together. One of us loads/unloads the buggy/cart and the other watches them scan and to make sure we aren't over charged. They always tell us to leave the water or cases of cokes in there so we have had them forget that several times. We try to catch it and remind them but once bags go on top we don't see it and forget it. And when we get home I'm like oh crud.

However I will always tell them if they over charged me or if they rang something up twice.
  • If I notice something, I say something. Either them missing something or overcharging. My mom and I once notices something from Walmart that they had missed but we had stood in line FOREVER. We were not going back in. So I made a nice donation at the next store we went to, on of those ones where you just drop money in the buckets.

  • I agree with the majority, if I am still there (or its something expensive) I will go back and tell them. If I am already home then "oops, oh well"....and same with if they overcharge me...if I am still there I want it fixed, if I don't notice until I get home, then I figure its my loss and life will go on.
  • I'm pretty much on the same page as everyone else. Although, I've started using those "scan it" guns so it's really not an issue with big grocery orders.

  • Oh my gosh this happened the other day. She voided off our k cups and didnt notice. I noticed but didnt say anything. Those fuckers are expensive and every time we go to this ladies register we've had issues so I honestly didnt feel bad. :)
