Rants/Raves/Weekend plans?
Hope everyone had a good week!
Re: TGIF!
Plans: Not much planned for tonight. We have the usual errands to run this weekend, and I also need to get a gift for a bridal shower (that I am not looking forward to at all- long story). We're going to go buy some archery equipment too as a belated bday gift for my H. We'll also be going out to lunch or dinner with my BIL and his g/f at some point during the weekend.
Raves: I've decided I'd like to have a med-free birth and will be doing hypnobirthing. We just got the DVD and CD set and I'm excited to start practicing.
Rants: I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes a couple weeks ago and did not deal with the news well. I didn't have any risk factors so I was pretty shocked about it. My blood sugar #s have been great so that's good news. But I'm constanly terrified that they'll get worse which would mean potentially putting me on insulin, which would likely lead to me being induced- something I want to avoid if at all possible.
Raves: I finally get to get out of the house some on Sun and do somethings I have been needing to do.
Rants: Since Ethan was born he has had tons of clothes and now he has almost none. He grew so fast so we have very little of the bigger sizes and now I'm like OMG I have to go shopping to find him more.
@Mona8: I was already on metformin before getting pregnant so that helped me not get GD but I was borderline the whole pregnancy and took several tests. The good part about GD is you get extra monitoring. The medicine will help control things along with a good diet. Stay away from fruits and high sugar items. Also walk it helped me a lot. I only gained 15lbs my whole pregnancy and didn't gain at all until the end of my 2nd trimester. Ethan measured ahead the whole time and even though he was 5 weeks early he was almost 7lbs which would have made him a big baby at term but not too big he was healthy. My dr never mentioned inducing because of it and I know GD women who have very normal births. Just discuss what you want with your doctors. I did have a csection but it had nothing to do with the medicine or GD issues it was for completely unrelated issues. Good luck!!

Thanks girls! I'm dealing with it much better now that I've gotten over the initial surprise and adjustments. My Ob won't induce until my due date as long as it stays diet controlled. If I end up needing insulin (please not another needle! lol) then they won't let me go more than a week before my due date. I really don't want that to happen, so fingers crossed that I can keep it diet controlled. It's the fasting #s that I always worry about since there isn't much I can do to control them.
Raves: it's Friday. I'm very happy for the weekend. As much as I dislike my one coworker, my other one is amazing. She's awesome and we keep each other sane.
Weekend plans: not much. Work around the house, it's supposed to be nice out, out for supper tonight with h. Hopefully sleep in a bit tomorrow. Nothing too exciting
