Layout help!

Hi all - I'm new to this forum but in desperate need of help! I have NO idea how to lay my furniture out to make my living room work best. The room is 17x14 but I only have 3 walls available to use due to the kitchen entrance. Can anyone offer any advice?! I attached an image of the dimensions.

Re: Layout help!

  • This is just me, but I prefer to have the TV out of sight from the doorway. Therefore, I would place it to the left of your kitchen door. Leave the sofa as-is. Align the coffee table with the sofa. Place the loveseat on the wall you had the TV before with a side table at the right angle of the sofa and loveseat. Then if you can, you could buy two matching arm chairs for in front of the window. I would do two smaller pieces there rather than a large piece because it's the window wall and you want it to feel more open. A large piece of furniture at the window tends to make the room feel more closed in. Even if you have carpeted flooring you could also consider getting a large area rug to visually ground the space. You could put a smaller accent table between the two new armchairs. Possibly a lamp on that table. You may wish to hang a large mirror or a series of smaller mirrors above your loveseat to bounce light and reflect the window. A sizeable piece of artwork or a series of coordinating items above the sofa would work.
  • Yeah, @MommyLiberty5013 has good ideas.

I don't like closing off a window. With what you have, I would probably put the sofa where you have the t.v., love seat where the sofa is, and the tv to the left (if you're facing the window) of the window  on an angle (if that's possible).

Otherwise maybe tv on the small wall with the sofa where it is (moved down a bit) and the love seat where the tv is. Possibly even on an angle?
