Missing plane?

Where do you think it is?   I've read too many conspiracy theories and I'm about ready to build a bunker.   One of my closest friends' husband is a pilot, so I asked her what he thinks.  And he thinks it's at the bottom of the ocean, so I am going with his thoughts so I don't panic.   Because it scares me out of my mind to think someone can hide and land a plane that size.  And what they have planned for it next.

So what do you think?

Re: Missing plane?

  • I'm with you, I honestly can't think about it too much because I get freaked out.  And I freak myself out enough over every day dangers, I can't add this random crazy one onto the list!
    :(

Also, I just keep going back to the show "LOST".  Enough said.

  • I thought of Lost, too Emmy!
  • I think about Lost too!!

A week ago we were talking about all the theories and how crazy they were. Days later and more and more of the stuff that seemed crazy seems more likely.

I definitely think it was hijacked whether by the pilots themselves or not. I am leaning towards it landing somewhere. This just seems really planned and thought out. There had to be a plan and ulterior motive so what would that have been? If it wasn't immediately making it clear that it was a hijacking then I think the plan was to land. I've read a lot if theories too so I'm not sure what I think exactly.

I'm also on season 2 of watching Homeland so I'm all about terrorists and conspiracy theories right now, ha!

  • I have two friends who are pilots and they are afraid that it has landed somewhere and is being "re-purposed." Their other theory is that it is at the bottom of the ocean. I am going with that one, but I wonder if there is room in my backyard for a bunker. Ayeeee.
  • I also thought of Lost..... and I never watched. Just spooky. I also wonder could those people be held hostage somewhere. I think there should be some sort of back up to the commicator swtich that CAN NOT be turned off. Crazy. The poor loved ones that may not have closure for a long long time.
  • Caron, one of the theories is the plane went up to 43,000 feet to incapacitate and/or kill the passengers because there wouldn't have been enough oxygen and the plane would have depressurized. So I think that if the plane landed, the passengers are not alive.
  •  I see..... I have not heard the full details of everything.

yea but wouldn't everyone have died then as well?   Unless the pilots had oxygen backup?

My theory is in the bottom of the Indian Ocean never to be found unfortunately.

  • There are so many theories, and who knows what is really true.  Apparently, though,  the pilots have much more oxygen than passengers, hours worth.   And if it was planned out to this extent, they would have figured that out, I guess.

Honestly though, I like your theory best and I hope that's where it is.
  • I'm somewhat convinced they are somewhere with Matthew Fox and Evengeline Lily and a smoke monster too... A little too coinsidental if we start hearing how the passengers knew one another.

All kidding aside, I believe they are at the bottom of the ocean as well.  Sad - closure for those families is a long way off. And what is more weird to me is that I have no idea what the pilot or whomever hoped to accomplish should the plane it truly have been hijacked. I mean they are all most likely dead - how could any demands be met? And even if they were alive, wouldn't we have heard some sort of "demands" by now?

  • I can't imagine they were able to land a plane somewhere, without radar / controls, in the dark.

I'll have to ask my friend (stewardess) and her husband (pilot) to hear what they think, but my thoughts are at the bottom of the ocean, too. Whatever came out of the oil slick that was found in the ocean?

    Totally agree!

I think it landed somewhere.  They have some pretty solid evidence that it made that turn and kept flying.  It just doesn't add

  • I also can't imagine what those families of the passengers are going through.  Having to wake up every morning to see one more crazy theory.

Well the theories are they did it because they wanted something or someone on the plane or the plane itself for some future terrorist attack. If this was a hijacking I don't think they had or have demands. I don't see it as a hostage situation with demands. If it was I don't think they would have turned off the tracking and went off course. If they had demands, why not make them right away? There has got to be a reason to fly for 7 hours trying to evade detection.

  • Clare - the oil slick was found to not be related to the kind of oil in the Boeing 777

April - I'd heard that, but to me (and this is JMO) that makes no sense. If they wanted the plane, then why not rob a bank to get $$ to get a plane like that. To hijack and kill all those people.... the "hard" way for sure. And if they wanted someone in particular, wouldn't they have found that though the passenger list, like someone would have stuck out when they reviewed the manifest...  Who knows! :)

  • This entire thing has had me mesmerized.

The craziest theory I read involved that the plane was hijacked because of the people on board--20 or so employees from some weapons company that the hijackers wanted to work on things to then fill the plane with.

After looking at the most recent maps and the fact that it's suspected the plane was going south, I think plans went awry and it's lying at the bottom of the ocean, because there aren't many places to land a plane that way, it's pretty much open ocean.

  • This is one of those stories that I am not following too closely, but will be interested in hearing the story once it is determined what happened. All the unknowns and speculations are too much for me.
  • It's so crazy that there's no hint of where it is yet. I'm going with the bottom of the ocean as well, sadly.
  • I haven't been following too closely, mostly because I believe it's at the bottom of the ocean. I think all of the theories are interesting though and I am looking forward to them getting some definitive answers!
  • I also think that it is crashed in the ocean.  I think if it landed somewhere SOMEONE would have heard something.  (I say that not having followed the stories/speculations at all.)  The question is if it did land and someone knew where, whether the people (governments) who know something would divulge that info.
  • I think it definitely sounds suspicious, but I think whatever they were planning, it went wrong and so they ditched it in the ocean and everyone is dead. Given all of the things they activated/deactivated I wouldn't be surprised if we never know. I also don't trust all of the countries involved to clear their own citizens of suspicion. I'm not big into conspiracies, but there are too many coincidences for it to just be some random thing that happened.
  • This came up on my google+ this morning, maybe I've changed my mind...A Startlingly Simple Theory About the Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet
  • i read the above article and really liked it. it was pretty simple.

i asked my dad, who is also a pilot, what he thought. he doesn't really know what to think. he read the same article and felt it was pretty good. he also thinks the news sources need to stop making up crazy stories for the sake of viewers.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

I was reading that one last night.
I was thinking it sounded plausible but then I read this, which points out a lot of issues with the theory

I don't know what I really think! I guess I don't buy it was an accident. But it still could have ended up crashing
