  • Pregnant Girls:

How many weeks: 14 - Lemon!

How are you feeling? Getting better.  I'm off Zofran now, and taking unisom at night + b6 during the day.

Rants/Thoughts/Bump pics? I already hate maternity clothes shopping!  I'm too short and big boobed for everything.  I tried on just plain tshirts because my shirts are getting too short, and my boobs made them see through.  Old Navy has short options in jeans, but not in my sizes, not even online.  My mom hemmed my pair I got from Target.  I did get some capris and a skirt in hopes Spring is seriously on her way!

Testing plans:  waiting until next month to see if I get my period...but I get too impatient and will probably want to test sooner.

Chart stalks/rants/Thoughts:  since stopping my BCP my acne has slowly started coming back.  I've fought it for over 10 years and the only thing that helped was BCP.   I hate the way my face is starting to look so I don't leave the house without makeup and sometimes I even put it on before my H gets home from work.  I'm worried that my skin will get a million times worse when I'm pregnant, but I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there.

  • 28w3d! Time is flying. We had our echo last week, LO has an arrhythmia called atrial bigeminy with premature atrial contractions. The atria are essentially beating too close together and then only one beat is getting to the ventricles. So the heartrate will be 140s when in sinus rhythm and then drop to 75 or so when it's beating funky. The cardiologist said it's not uncommon and we're just monitoring it to make sure it doesn't become supraventricular tachycardia (HR over 200). He thinks it may resolve by birth or shortly after. He also recommended cutting out caffeine as a precaution. That's the worst part.
I have my first OB appt on Thursday, so we'll see what she says about it. I also seem to have passed my GD test since I haven't heard from them and it's been over a week.

Rants/Thoughts/Bump pics? Lunch lady asked if I was pregnant A WEEK AGO. yes I was wearing materninty pants because they are so comfy. But...I was just bloated, and I used to look like that or bigger when I weighed more, so what if I was just getting fat again? i hold all my weight in my belly! I was not ready to tell her so I put my money down and ran away...

  • @islandmonkey8 FX for you!

@mana8503 and DanaOCNY I am hating maternity clothes shopping because I am going to need for 2-3 seasons.  I feel like I have to buy so much and none of my regular clothes fit.  I can see your frustration with how shirts and pants fit.  I'm average height (5'5) and I have to get some of the pants hemmed.

    Pregnant Girls:

    How many weeks: 19 weeks

How are you feeling?  Good :)

Rants/Thoughts/Bump pics?  No bump picture until Saturday but everyone says I'm carrying small.  There are currently more boy than girl predictions, which kind of disappoints me.

Chart Stalks/ Rants/ Thoughts: I go to my doctor tomorrow to find out what the plan is tho I haven't received a call that they received H test results. Its concerning after the problems we had with the doc office to get the test done refusing to bill our insurance so we had to pay for the test out of pocket, I can see them not sending the results to my doctor. They said it takes 3 days to get results and he did the test on March 7.

Chart stalks/rants/Thoughts: my chart is rocky this month so that sucks, but my body hasn't even started to gear up, which kind of sucks because I was hoping cd 17ish was going to be my new norm. Although this weekend would be much better for timing than the week. I'm not nearly as motivated this month.

  • Not sure if I'm getting sick or if today is O.  I actually took my temp today.  Mainly because I felt really hot, the roads are crappy and I was praying for a fever.  LOL!  Usually I have pretty obvious Os but, I haven't noticed it this month.  I guess I'll find out in 2 weeks..

  • @jwrenne I hope you get your answers and your drs get their act together!!

@islamdmonkey8 good luck and fingers crossed!!

Haha thanks @frank139@msu.edu! That would be awesome! Yeah I'm just not feeling as into it because I think I've already written off that we aren't having a 2014 baby, and have been focused on house hunting for the last 3 weeks.

  • The update from my doctor was that my test results (U/S and blood) were normal so was H's. They want to have me do an HSG test, which they will schedule in the next couple weeks and then they will start me on Clomid on my next cycle. If that doesn't work after 4 months they will refer me to the RE for IVF.

Did you ask if they were going to monitor you during your Clomid cycles?  Also, if Clomid doesn't work, that doesn't mean you have to automatically go to IVF.  There are a few other options to try before dropping a small fortune on IVF.  I would recommend going to an RE after you get your HSG done; they may not even have you go through 4 rounds of Clomid.  That seems a bit excessive to me.

Glad everything has come back clear so far!  Best of luck moving forward! :)

Agreed here. If you're already at the point of needing an HSG, etc, you should move to a RE. They are the pros at this and will make sure you're monitored and treated properly.  IVF is rarely the next step after clomid.

Definitely make sure you are monitored on clomid. That is not stuff to mess around with. My obgyn office already told me that is what they would do at a year, but I think it's ridiculous because I've confirmed 6 times that I ovulate on my own. You chart also, so I don't see why they would plan on 4 rounds of clomid. A RE would know best.
I also agree that IVF shouldn't be the next step. Based in other friend's experiences, I think IUI (insemination) is next. It may be an issue of the sperm just not making it where they
    need to.

    Good luck!!!

Eta: if I get to the year mark, I will only continue with my obgyn if they monitor me and will be asking about a RE referral too.

  • IUI will probably be an option as well but doctor just stated IVF.
I originally thought about going to the RE first but when I checked the fertility center my doctor will send me to, I found out that they want initial tests and low tech option (Clomid) for a few months before they will see you.
My doctor is doing Clomid for 2 Months at 50 then 2 Months at 100.

Is there another RE you can go to?  Regardless, just make sure they are monitoring you during the Clomid cycles.  That's the only real way to see if and how you are responding.

  • @jwrenne: that terrifies me. Clomid would not be a good option for me as my body works just fine. It doesn't matter how many eggs I make, it's just a matter if my husband's shitty sperm actually are swimming. Why would they assume it is your issue and not his? Male factor infertility DOES exist and it is probably more common than people think.
  • @jwrenne - someone posted this to trying to get pregnant on tb, it's now in their blog. I thought it was really informative and to the point. Just thought I'd share it.

    http://tbttgp.wordpress.com/taking-clomid/

I'm usually a person to just follow doctors, because they are the experts, but that scared me. Especially after someone posted about having cyst rupture and losing an ovary from unmonitored clomid.

Clomid can work for people who are ovulating regularly. It helps to create a stronger ovulation in cases where the female doesn't have any issues and therefore if there is MFI, it can create a better egg for any sperm that get there.

Regardless, monitoring is VERY important. Also, just know, there is no way your doctor can know you'll do 50 for 2 months and then 100. It all should depend on HOW you respond.

Also, there is a lifetime limit on clomid use (usually six months). So take that into consideration when talking with your doctor, especially if you don't go to a RE.

  • Especially what @islandmonkey8 said. Don't burn up 2/3 of your lifetime cycles with a dr who isn't a specialist. Good luck and know that we all just care for you and that's why we want you to be careful.
I was flabbergasted at how non-chalant my obgyn was about how clomid would be the next step and no mention of ute thinning or cyst growth as side effects, just the risk of multiples. I feel so blessed to have found the information that @mana8503 linked before we are even at that step because I probably would have just trusted the dr too.

    Good luck!

  • My doctor wrote the script for Clomid at 50 for 2 months and if that doesnt work then she will write a script for 100 for 2 months.
My bloodwork and US came back normal, H SA came back normal. At this point the cause is unknown. Since my charts show Ovulation every month and that corresponds with the blood work and US, my doctor thinks maybe my tubes could be blocked so she scheduled an HSG test. She said if the HSG test comes back that my tubes were blocked she will cancel the Clomid cycles.
I think after I get the HSG test I might just go to an RE. I double checked the Fertility Center and they will see you after an HSG test plus the other initial work-up (bloodwork, US, SA).
