What is a good length of period to wait before sending a follow up email? I applied at a company a few months ago and was expecting to have an in person interview but the job was put on hold. I saw a job (of interest) on the company's site posted recently. I applied and haven't heard back yet. It has been 7 days. I am thinking of waiting another week before following up.
What are some reasons why hr will wait longer than a week to respond to submissions? Other than a candidate not being a good fit?
Re: Follow up email
Most companies I've dealt with pool resumes and will filter through them at some point.
The other thing to remember is that just because you're in a hurry to be employed, doesn't mean they're in a hurry to employ.
Some companies advertise jobs and never end up hiring for them for various reasons.
Thanks for the input. I will send a follow email then try to stop fixating on the amount of time that passes.
There have actually been times (with other companies) when it took so long to hear back, that I nearly forgot I had put in an application.
