QOTD 3/21

At my high school you were allowed to put a quote in the yearbook with your senior picture. Were you allowed to do this? If so what was it? If not what would your quote have been?

Re: QOTD 3/21

  • Back then, it would have been something horribly embarrassing I'm sure, but thankfully we didn't do them.  If I had to pick today, I'd probably pick something dumb to be funny, like "Life's a garden, dig it" from Joe Dirt.  Lol

  • Yes, my high school did quotes for seniors in the yearbook. This was mine:
To dream anything that you want to dream, that is the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do, that is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself, to test your limits, that is the courage to succeed.
    (Bernard Edmonds)

I really liked this Billy Joel quote, but I think someone else used a Billy Joel quote and I wanted to be different:
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
    We're all carried along
    By the river of dreams

  • I know we had them but i can't remember what it was.  I think it was something like, "Party on Garth."  Not sure.
  • We didn't have quotes. I can't think of anything super insightful I would write. I would probably put something like "what doesn't come out in the wash will come out in the rinse"

  • Mine was "Maybe someday we will find that it wasn't really wasted time." It's from The Eagles song Wasted Time.

  • Nope we just had goals - college, job, married and family. I feel accomplished.

  • We were allowed to write whatever we wanted. I can't remember exactly what mine said, but it was probably a recap of everything I did with my friends. The sentence sleeping in a van on the side of the road makes an appearance.

  • I know we had to pick song lyrics.  Maybe it was any quote or both a quote and song lyrics.  I don't really remember exactly.  I do remember that I picked the lyric "Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up.  These are the best days of our lives."  I don't remember where I got there.  And thinking back, I can't for the life of me figure out why I chose it.  I remember not being able to wait to grow up!  Now... it makes a LOT more sense than it did then!  People always said I acted older, maybe I was momentarily and subconciously wiser.  HA!

  • I don't think we did...I really don't remember! I'm not sure what I would put for my quote.

  • We had them but I was absent the day of submissions so I just had a pic and I'm plenty OK with that! Lol
  • My school allowed a quote and some famous last words.  My quote was "We may be ugly but you love to stare" which is a g lyric.  My FLW were "Don't worry, it will be dark" which is something my friend and I used to say before going to dances.  we'd be concerned our makeup would get smudged or our dress would get crooked or whatever so the other would say "don't worry if whatever happens, because it will be dark and nobody will notice".  So weird!!!

  • We had a blurb next to our picture, I can't remember how many characters we were allowed.  Everyone included a quote after thanking all of their relatives and friends for the best lives ever.  My quote was, "Don't let life discourage you.  Everyone who got where they are had to start where they were."  I used to love Chicken Soup.  It was before one of the short stories.
  • Ok you sent me in search of my yearbook but I cant find it- I think its still at my dads! Oh well I dont think whatever I wrote was very profound but now I am curious! Maybe ill stop by my dads tomorrow, lol
  • I think the most we had were things like aspirations, college choice, etc. Chances are I would've picked some sort of song lyrics.

  • Just went searching for mine!

My quote was a Bill Cosby quote. "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody."

I still believe that is true :-)
