Re: FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

  • I'm soooo not prepared for this move to NYC. I'm ready, but not prepared. The procrastinator in me has reared its ugly head.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

I really need to get a life so I have something to confess.

I thought of a confession thanks to another post!
I don't wear or own any make up. No lipstick, nail polish, liners, creams. Nothing. I wouldn't even know where to begin. The makeup question post may as well been written in jibberish for me to understand it.
:::: this probably doesn't come as a surprise to anyone who has ever seen a picture of me.::
  • Me, a bunch of my close friends from college, and my BFF are all meeting in NYC next weekend for a reunion.  I have no desire to go.  I love them, miss them, want to see them, but I'm the most outgoing of the group (and they expect me to be) so I constantly feel like I have to be on my A game.  It's exhausting.  I just don't feel like it right now.

  • Also, I lied and told my H that I was in a meeting just so I wouldn't have to discuss what we're doing for Easter this year.  I'm so not looking forward to this conversation.

A little background:  Easter is a battle between H and his parents every year.  H doesn't believe in organized religion and his parents are really into their church community and refuse to believe their son has no use for religion.

I own them.  I rarely use them.  The only thing I use on a regular basis at the moment is foundation to hide my red face.  I just picked up some products from a company called Lush which is supposed to help because they use all natural ingredients.  If it doesn't work, I may have to resort to making my own products.  Which will piss me off.

I don't even feel like myself if I leave the house without at least some mascara on.  Can I go without makeup? Yes.  Do I want to?  I avoid going without at all costs.

@RevJen I have a touch of rosacea across my t-zone and find that a green-toned foundation primer works wonders.  I have used the Ulta brand and Smashbox.  I haven't tried Lush's face products, but I use their soaps and body washes.  Stay far away from the bar conditioner though.
I didn't wear make-up until my 30's.  When I was younger, putting on makeup was for going out someplace nice, not for everyday, and involved eyeshadow, mascara, and lip gloss.  Now I rarely leave the house without my full face, and when I do, everyone asks if I feel okay and says I look very tired.  :(

Which bar?  I picked up Fresh Farmacy and some moisturizer with almond milk in it.

Have you tried Clinique's Redness line? I have uber sensitive skin, and it worked well for me. (Bare Minerals is sitll my go to, though.)

  • Their foundation does wonders but the moisturizer didn't work long term.

  • I didn't learn how to use makeup until after I was married and I love it, although I felt awkward about it when I first started using it. Lots of youtube videos out there. I am still scared of eyeliner though :)

  • @RevJen the Jungle conditioner doesn't really condition all that well, especially for my dry hair.  Plus it has the unfortunate side effect of leaving a lingering scent reminiscent of hemp.

  • I love makeup. I recently got one of those new Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes.  I love it.

  • @RiverPlate I have a system for my hair that seems to work well.  For now.  It's curly so things could change at the drop of a hat.  I'll keep that in mind.

    Thanks!

  • Everything I know about hair and makeup I learned from magazines like Seventeen, Glamour, and InStyle, and a bit from Carmindy on What Not To Wear.  I do not have a girly girl mom.

I need mascara, lip gloss, and eyeliner before I start feeling even slightly presentable.

I have super dark circles under my eyes - have had them my entire life. So I need concealer at the VERY least. My "I'm not wearing makeup" face has foundation or tinted moisturizer, concealer, eyeliner, and mascara.

  • It's not Friday anymore. But here's a confession.
I'm drunk for the first time in two tears because my neighbor was venting about having to figure out school districts for her kids and told me I was lucky I didn't have kids.
    Bitch.
It hurt me enough to get drunk. So here i am.
