Jizo (LR)
My therapist recommended that DH and I do something to help us during our grieving process. I remembered that I heard (maybe here?) about Japanese culture and its recognition of miscarriage and abortion. So I started doing some Googling, and it brought me to Jizo. Jizo is a Buddhist figure who protects children who die before their parents. Parents in Japan often leave toys or trinkets at Jizo statues as an offering so he will watch over their miscarried child. I thought this was so beautiful (and I wish our culture was more open), so I bought a statue for our garden. He arrived today!
I'm going to buy some weather-proof paint and write something about Poppyseed on the bottom. Here he is!
