  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

$160 New grill (our was shot and we got a good deal)

$130 Concert tickets for May (Brantley Gilbert)

    $13 Target

    2. Any progress towards goals?

No, nothing major. We didnt put much into savings this month as we had to make one last $513 payment for H's school even though he dropped out. Our tax refund did help though.

    3. Any vacations?

Florida in about 1 month, can't wait for the warmth!!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

We stayed within budget for our budgeted items, but we ended up spending a lot more this weekend than I expected to. We bought a few items at Toys R Us - $279; went out to eat - $100 total; spent money on summer clothes for DD - $40. So we spent extra, but it was on items that were needed. I'll just pay them off next month.

    2. Any Progress towards goals?

We were able to put money away towards our efund/house while paying off some bills. I'm excited after all these years, I actually have $1300 in an account that is for emergencies and not for something that will be spent on in a few months.

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer?

We are planning on going camping, probably for Memorial Day Weekend. We are definitely staying in New York for 4th of July (which is also our 1 year wedding anniversary), and we will be heading to the Berkshires, MA to visit our friends that we haven't seen since our wedding.

    1. How MM was your weekend? Groceries ($140), Target ($6)

    2. Any Progress towards goals? Side entrance door was installed on Friday- looks awesome and we paid for the balance ($1,300) on a 0% credit card- will be done in June. We sign our wills, health care proxy, etc tomorrow ($350). image

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer? DH wants to take the girls somehwere for a few days- nothing too crazy since they're still little. I'm thinking sleeping in a tent on my parents' land (they have 22 acres) would be fun and a lot cheaper! We'll see though.

  • 1. Not too bad. We did make plans to spend a lot on small fix ups for the house but we haven't bought anything yet. So i'll budget it in next month. I still hate to spend the money though.

    2. We got our federal tax return and DH was paid for his 2nd job so i'm paying an extra 1,600 toward my car today.

    3. We are going to go to the beach for a long weekend in May or June. Not sure when. Thats probably the biggest vacation we can afford.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Just groceries for $140.  So this cleared out the rest of our grocery budget for the month.

    2. Any Progress towards goals?  Put another $800 into the account that goes toward debt at the end of the month.  The way this month is going, we'll have $3,000 to put toward my student loans at the end of the month. :-)
H and I were talked about this on Saturday, and this was a good month for us with overtime and commissions.  Last year we had 4 months like this and had nothing to show for it.  We came to a realization as to how sad it is that it took us losing our unborn child to get our act together.  We thought we were great and fine with money.  Yeah, not so much now.

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer? We probably aren't going to do any vacations since it isn't in the TMM plan.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Atrocious.  The worst yet since I've been on this board.  We saw friends in the city and ended up spending about $200 on lunch, activities, a brewery tour, and some shopping for staples.  I hang my head in shame.  These "experience" costs were what got us into trouble in the first place.

    2. Any Progress towards goals?

Small but steady contributions to all savings accounts.  I've also kept up my 10% Roth IRA contributions, which I'm glad about.  H has been rocking sticking to budget lately too, and I'm very proud of him for it.  Once our tax refund comes in our goal of adding $10,000 to our DP fund will be completed early, so I'll be bumping that goal up to $17,000 by the end of the year.

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer?

Yes!  We are going on a dive trip to the Caribbean in May.  I am sooooo excited. I've been diving for years locally, but this will be my first big vacation.  It's also the first vacation of any type that I've paid for without carrying a balance to do so :)  Hooray for saving!  It really does work.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not as good as we would have liked! :(

$45 dining out (house hunting all day Saturday)

$20 for 3 year old's birthday on Saturday

    $150 for groceries

    2. Any Progress towards goals? I was able to add $490 to my savings and my husband was able to add $600 to his savings. We have changed our house buying goals. Instead of buying a 200k house in the area we want, we plan to get a 100k in a less desirable place with 20% down - 10 year loan and move after 10 years and keep this as a rental... but now we need 20k! #-o  We are at $13,070 and plan to be at our goal mid/end of May! If we find something now, we may try to do a 60 day close.

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer? We have a trip to Las Vegas planned Memorial Day weekend. It was a graduation gift from my grandparents who live there. Only cost to us is food since they are paying for our flight, hotel, 2 tours, and 1 buffet! :) We may end up going to Hollywood in August for my husband's stepbrother's wedding. Depends on how we are doing financially - buying/saving for a house is our first priority!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? H spent $750 on a boys weekend/hockey tournament. More than I expected but it was avalaible for him. I spent $10 at the local bakery. Just got the phone call that it is going to only cost $225 to fix the car so that is a huge relief.

    2. Any Progress towards goals? Yes! Since the car repairs are so cheap I am paying off SL number #6 today! Only 3 more and less than $13,000 to go!

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer? None. We both plan on working.

  • 1- Again it was a busy weekend because we are planning me being off the rest of the week due to hernia surgery.  we ate out on friday night, grocery store, dropped off dry cleaning, got info from the credit union, returned sheets that were not too soft enough at JCPenney.  Lots of deep cleaning and laundry done.  I'm a tad OCD so I'm planning on me not being able to lift much for 6 weeks.  DH is making fun of me because it's an out patient surgery.  I'm squeezing in 1 more yoga class tonight because I will miss it SO much I almost want to cry.

2 - $95 into emergency fund, cancelled old health insurance policy as well

3 - we are going to sanibel island in june.  can't wait!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? We did ok until Hubby announced some work functions that he needs to attend this week and currently doesn't have anything approriate to wear that fits. Luckily big sale going on at Penny's over the weekend

    2. Any Progress towards goals? We are officially 2 1/4 payments away from having another debt paid off. Also received a letter from a debt collector. Took the the time to write to them to get more details on what the debt is for, especially since we've gotten a letter from a different collection agency less then a month ago stating they are collecting on the same debt. So it will be interesting to see which of the two companies can proof they are the valid company to pay.

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer Unfortunately not, not in the budget this year. We'll be doing a staycation and hopefully be able to do some fun things in the area. At the very least not having to wake up to an alarm clock will be a wonderful vacation in itself

  • 1. Out of town for a second weekend. Eating out and gas. Stayed in budget. Sunday I went to Lululemon and spent $150. Plus, $100 restaurant gift card for our accountant.

    2. Nothing new.

    3. We're going to Charlotte for my brothers 40th birthday in a few weeks. We're taking a long weekend. I haven't been down there in a few years.
  • 1) Spent $32 on new shirts, got a $20 off card in the mail after shopping for clothes last week.

    2) Working on getting my wife's car repaired.  It has less than 40k on it and it a piece of junk.  It is a PT Cruiser.

    3) Every summer MW's extended family goes to Catawba Island and has a blast.  Since it is a shared cost, we usually spend $600 for the week which we budget for.

    Groceries - planned
Eating Out - not planned but in budget
Shoes for the kiddos - planned

    2. Any Progress towards goals?
H got a promotion! So it will help us reach our goals faster but we need to redo our budget first.

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer?
Hopefully. We keep talking about making plans but nothing definite yet. It won't be anything extravagant.

  • I'm late, but I figured I'd post anyway!

    1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad, recovering from surgery really makes for a cheap weekend. Went out to breakfast Saturday morning $25 and picked up a birthday gift for my best friend's mom's surprise party $30, which actually turned out to be my bridal shower! Which was a ton of fun! :)

    2. Any Progress towards goals? No major progress this week. I'll put the little bit of money we received at the shower in our joint savings which is better than nothing!

    3. Any vacations you are looking forward to for the spring/summer? We're going to Cancun for our honey moon in May! I am so excited. Then just a couple trips to Ocean City, MD which is a yearly thing for us.

  • I'm a little late too!

    1) We didn't really spend much this weekend...gas for car= $40, beer for the week=$30, and lunch for 3= $32

    2) Well, one of our goals has been to find a property within our means and we did this weekend! We put an offer down yesterday and it got accepted!! Price was way low end of our budget, especially because it's a condo and not a SFH. Condo fee is very low compared to others in the area. With taxes, HOA, mortgage, and PMI, the monthly payment will be ~$200 more than we currently pay for rent and a LOT more space!

    3) We had been originally thinking about an all inclusive trip to Mexico in the next few months but that's definitely not happening now! I am going to visit my family in Seattle this week though, so I guess at least I get to get away for a little bit!

  • 1) I was traveling for work (again), so most of my expenses were reimbursable.  For non-reimbursables, I think I spent $35 on groceries and that was it...

    2) Yep, I sent $350 to one of H's student loans.  We had a pretty cheap month.

    3) Two trips this summer.  One to the beach over Memorial Day.  One of H's best friends has this absolutely ridiculous 5 bed/4 bath house on the beach in Seaside, FL.  The beach is private/residential access only.  I've never seen more than a dozen people on it at any given time.  Anyway, a couple times a year H's friend invites us down.  So for us it costs the gas to get there and some basic groceries when we arrive.  We also usually do a nice meal while we are down there, but we might skip this year.  It's a lot of fun and super relaxing - it really is paradise!

Second trip is our big one to London.  We are both crazy-excited about that.  It's going to cost a pretty penny, but we're getting a great deal on hotels, and I've figured out a way to get buy 1 get 1 free access into most of the attractions we want to visit (plus buy 1 get 1 free meals at a lot of restaurants near our hotel).  So while the exchange rate is not in our favor, I think we'll spend less than I budgeted.
