For those of you not on FB, our dog started limping yesterday so we took him to the vet. He couldn't diagnose him without an x-ray, and it was too late to do it yesterday. So today I dropped him off in the AM for an x-ray and for them to have time to evaluate him.
I just got back from the vet again. There are two possibilities:
1) "growing pains". There really aren't many indicators that this is the case. It's just the benign alternative.
2) bone cancer. Given how painful it is and a spot showing on his bone in the x-Ray, and that golden retrievers are highly prone to this type, it points to cancer.
We have a follow up x-Ray in 3 weeks to check for growth/spreading, or to see if by some miracle it's not cancer. There are no words right now, I can't believe this is happening. I though he just sprained it and now there is a possibility that he has bone cancer which is quick to metastasize and nearly impossible to treat or cure. I would covet any thoughts and prayers from you guys, I'm a mess and can't even imagine losing Eli or seeing him go through cancer. He's only 17 months.
I hurt :'(
