Work bathroom etiquette

I need you to tell me if I'm doing something inappropriate in the bathroom.

The women's bathroom in our office is divided into 2 rooms; the first just has a long counter and mirrors and the second is where the toilets and sinks are.  Every afternoon, I go to the first section of the bathroom to put more moisturizer on my face.  My desk is right under a vent and the constant flow of air is really drying out my skin.  Anyway, without fail, anyone who enters the bathroom while I'm in the middle of moisturizing gives me what I can only describe as incredulous look.  It's starting to bother me!

So...is what I'm doing wrong?!

Re: Work bathroom etiquette

  • Um are you applying it weird? I don't see why you moisturizing your face in the bathroom is a problem. Would they rather you do it at your desk?

  • Assuming you're only moisturinxing your face and not stripping down and moisturizing your entire body, I don't see the problem.

  • I think it's fine and would do it if needed. Although I've heard from friends in offices about coworkers who do ANYTHING but work. So maybe people just assume your slacking?

  • Moisturizing is fine, if I thought you were full on redoing your makeup I'd side eye.

The only reason I can think of the side eyeing you is maybe they think they are doing your makeup. Do you bring your entire makeup bag with you?

  • You are in a bathroom. Thats where that kind of stuff takes place. They should get the side eye for looking at you funny. Im not going to pretend that there arent days where I touch up my make up after lunch or whatever. Sometimes I do it at my desk, sometimes in the bathroom. Its no one elses bees wax what you are doing in there. I dont see anything wrong with what you are doing at all.

HAHAHA!!!  I'm pretty sure if I did that, I wouldn't getting the weird looks - I'd be fired!

@philaphan - Nope, just my little bottle of moisturizer.
