Do you go to garage/yard sales?

Re: QOTD 3/26

  • Not much, but only because I never think to do it and I don't own a home.

  • I don't  do the yard sale circuit (the local papers print a yard sale map each week for different towns so that the die hards don't miss out on a sale) and I rarely stop 'just for a look'.  Sometimes I'll visit a few if I'm looking for something in particular.

My best yard sale find was giant empty picture frames (like, 2 by 4 feet) for a quarter each!

  • I will cruise through if there is something in our neighborhood, but I don't think I've every stopped by while out driving. Our HOA has rules that they can only take place on designated weekends.

  • No, but I wouldn't mind going to one just to see what kind of deals I can find.  Our neighborhood doesn't seem to have many and I don't ever think of going to find them.  A lot of people will do a virtual garage sale on craigslist and I'll sometimes look at those.

  • I've never had luck with them.  It's usually the same kind of things that are already taking up space at my house!

yes! we love them on our weekend drives, we always stop. We rarely buy anything, but have actually gotten some really good finds- cool cookbooks, books on tape for cheap for my long commute, antique christmas ornaments, and a neat piece of art. I guess we like looking at other peoples stuff? We were just talking about how excited we were that yard sale season has started! though honestly, we should probably have one of our own!

ETA- We don't plan them out and map them, we just pull over if we drive by a sign.

  • I am a germ-o-phobe.  Garage sales gross me out.  I do not want anyone else's used junk in my house, unless I know where it came from.
  • I don't but my MIL is a huge yardsale shopping. I feel like she gets decent stuff, etc clothes for the kids.

I'm on yardsale Fb groups does that count? I need some dressers etc.

  • Nope, although I have always wanted to just go and peruse. H won't, so I'd have to plan it. Where I live we are part of the world's largest yard sale. It's 600 something miles long. While I don't yard sale, I do, however, love flea markets!!

  • I will slow down if I'm passing one and have been known to stop on occasion. I rarely have cash so buying things is not an option unless its something I can't live without!

  • I know we do get in moods where we do frequent them.

I think the worst guilty pleasure is spring cleaning weekend--which should hopefully be coming up soon in my area. People throw out stuff they don't want. For a few interesting months, we owned an arcade cabinet as a result of spring cleaning weekend.

I had to look...haha. Ours is along US 127! It doesn't go through Indiana, so now I'm curious as to how many super long ones there are. haha

  • I found a link!  Looks like the one I live on is the 2nd longest and yours is the 3rd...the longest one is on US 50 and is over 3,000 miles--what!!?

I was hoping we were on the same one, that would be so funny!
