When you walk into our house you are right in our living room, which is fine because it's a decent sized space.  There was a tiny corner right by the door where we had a book shelf filled with little trinkets and stuff.  I decided to move the book shelf to the basement for DVD storage and get a small table for the front door so H can put his keys, wallet and watch there every night instead of  on the kitchen counter.  I didn't have a lot of money to spend so I relocated a table we already had.  But now I think it's too short...what do you guys think (the table is about 3 ft tall)?

I reeeeally wanted to buy something new for this spot, but everything I saw was pricey.  If we keep the red table here I may paint it dark puriple because I have a red dresser across from it now and it's a little too much red.

  • I think it's cute, and I kind of like that it's smaller, it works with the space it's in.  I love your blog, your home is so homey!  I love how it's really a reflection of you two as a couple.

  • I like it too. I think that you should paint it and keep it. Maybe this summer you could check out some garage sales to see if you find something you like better that isn't too expensive.

  • I think it's cute also and not too small.  It's definitely a good option for the space.

If you are set on doing something different there, have you ever seen the "industrial" shelving?  I'm not sure if it's your style, but it would be fairly inexpensive and you could use some reclaimed wood, which is always given away for free on craigslist in my area.

  • I love the shelf! It's got a great feel to it. I think it'd be good repainted as well. I also like Yasmin's idea of the industrial shelving.
