Complete the Shatter Me series? NS

I just started Unravel Me. I thought that I was interested to finish the series after I pretty much liked the first book but MC Juliet is SO extreme on everything! Is that how she is for the entire book/series? It's emotional intensity on a pendulum. Maybe that's how teenagers really are but I don't know if I can take it.

Granted, it could be that the audio narrator has this sense of whiny urgency but I feel like that's what it would sound like in my head anyway. Do we get any relief from this jaded, love-struck, confused girl?

Thanks!

  • I'd say she stays dramatic but it isn't as whiny as the series continues.

  • I loved the first book, the second book was okay, and my GR friends rated the last book very low so I'm afraid to read it.

  • I LOVED the first book but for some reason couldn't get into the second book.  I took a break from it months ago and am not sure I'll pick it back up.

I liked the first book, loved the second, and though the third was a giant rollercoaster of teen hormones and drama and over-thinking everything. It seriously exhausted me. I'm glad I finished the series, because I did want to see what happened to the characters, but if you're looking to avoid more of the extreme emotional intensity, there's not much of a break from it in books 2 & 3.

  • Juliet really bugged me too but I finished the series and I'm glad I did. She got a lot better in the 3rd book in my opinion.

  • Thanks all. I might just be beyond the angsty drams for now. I get enough mood swings from my preschooler. :)
