Since the board is slow, lets discuss the genre challenge
How is everyone doing in the genre challenge?
How many categories have you completed?
Which ones are giving you the most trouble?
Do you have any recommendations for any of the more troublesome categories?
Have you read anything that you loved in a genre you otherwise never would have bothered with?
Re: Genre Challenge Progress
How many categories have you completed? 10
Which ones are giving you the most trouble? I'm honestly pretty excited about all of them, maybe music/film the least
Do you have any recommendations for any of the more troublesome categories? For romance, I keep hearing great things about Sarah MacLean. I have Goodreads shelves for psychology and books about books - are we friends on GR?
Have you read anything that you loved in a genre you otherwise never would have bothered with? Not yet. So far I've just stuck what I read without thinking into categories. I need to be more purposeful on some of the genres that are less in my comfort zone.
How many categories have you completed? 13
Which ones are giving you the most trouble? I'm excited about the Western one because I've never read a western but just found a really great list of good ones.
Do you have any recommendations for any of the more troublesome categories? I read I Wear The Black Hat for the Essays category and really enjoyed it.
Have you read anything that you loved in a genre you otherwise never would have bothered with? Not yet, as I forgot about it, but I will have to be intentional with some of these.
Which ones are giving you the most trouble? Science, Food Writing and Medicine/Health gave me some trouble, but I found some lists with some good audiobooks in those categories.
Do you have any recommendations for any of the more troublesome categories? For Psychology I read Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan. It was really interesting.
Have you read anything that you loved in a genre you otherwise never would have bothered with? Not so far, I've checked off the genres that I normally read from.
my read shelf:
Usually I'm not a big fan of romance. But there are a few manga series I love that are really romantic, so that wasn't as big of an issue as I thought it would be.
