I'm very annoyed with my REA. It all started when we decided to use a mortgage broker, whom he "didn't know" instead of going directly through a lender. Our MB found us a great deal but all our REA can do is complain. (It's an out of state lender, they used a appraisal management company, blah blah blah...) Our appraisal came back low and he blamed it on the broker for using an out of state lender and all the paperwork is changing. He did go in and re-negotiate the price when the seller was being a PITA, but other than that, he's the one being the PITA.   It's not his f*cking mortgage, why does he care? Should I say something or just let it go and not use his services in the future?

He simply will not let it go! A friend of ours said they had a similar issue with their REA. In the beginning they love her, but in the end he just got sick of the REA. Anyone else have similar experiences? What did you do?

  • Let it go. Your decision did make your REAs job harder then it had to be (dealing with out of state lenders and appraisal management companies are two known factors for delays, complications, and deals that never close). He/she is being a baby about it, but for my conflict-averse personality it would not be worth bringing up. If you are more comfortable with conflict, you may want to acknowledge that your decision did make the REAs job harder,  but you would appreciate it if your REA would stop making negative comments. What's done is done. Time to move on.

Can you please explain how this made the REA job harder? MB has done everything REA asked, and he did it very quickly.  Every bank in our state is
required by state law to use an appraisal management company. The lender, while out of state, is still in the same district and there are many branches in the area.

  • Is he just explaining the snags you've run into are due to your choices? It sounds like he is doing his job, so I guess I wouldn't say anything. I'm not saying he is in the right. I find his behavior very unprofessional. But I just wouldn't use him again or recommend him.

While I understand buying a home is stressful and emotional, this is a business transaction. Everyone is trying to get the best deal they can.

Take a deep breath and be glad that it will be over soon!
