AW: my noisy neighbor

I have a noisy neighbor.  And by noisy, I mean 2 am raves that have forced me to sleep in the guest room a few nights per week for months.  I've complained to management many times, and they never seemed to do anything about it.

I know I'm not the only one who has complained.  This apartment complex tends to house young professionals, retirees, and people who need a place to stay while they are building their dream house.  These are not people who have 2 am raves.  These are people who generally lead quiet lives and SLEEP at night.

Anyway, I got home tonight, walked past his door to go to the mail room, and I saw a sign that said, "Final Notice: Eviction Pending"

Is it terrible that I did a happy dance?  I mean - I hope he finds a place to live.  But it looks like he won't be living next to me anymore!

  • Not terrible! Wishing you quieter neighbors next time around :)
  • Thank you!  I was so sad to see the last family leave.  They were building a house, but they lived next to me for about 8 months.  They had this energetic little boy, and even with a young child I never heard a peep out of any of them.  Plus they were really nice, and we would kind of watch out for packages, etc. on each other's doorsteps.

I can tolerate a bit of noise... but when your bed is literally shaking from it, it's kind of hard to ignore...

  • Nope! Dance away! I was so excited when our crazy neighbor was evicted. H and I even had a celebratory cocktail.

    Good for you! Dance away!

When I've had noisy neighbors, I've usually called the non-emergency police line because the association didn't care what was going on and I'm a b*tch like that. That's the reason I moved out of that condo.

      :D
  • I probably would have put a smiley face on it with a pen from my purse or maybe even a hallelujah! Haha. Keep on dancing!

I think it takes a certain amount a time legally before you can evict someone right? At least as a landlord renting, not sure about apartments. So many warnings and time and paperwork.

Glad they will finally be gone for you though!

  • That's great news for you!  I'm not sure about the laws in your area but I know in my area, eviction from start to finish can be finalized within 21 days so here's hoping it's quick and painless for all!

  • I was always happy when they moved annoying renters from near me when I was living in Oklahoma.  The worse was chain smoking people that was infecting my apartment.
