If you saw Divergent, come on in!

So what did we think, ladies?

I thought it was pretty good.  I have to be honest and say that I wasn't totally enamored by the series in general, though, so perhaps that's why I didn't think the movie was amazing.

I didn't really buy the chemistry between Tris and Four, but I also didn't particularly care for Shailene being Tris.  I know one shouldn't be too nit-picky about how an actor measures up to one's mental picture of a character, but Tris' physique (I think, anyway) was a big part of the character.  I would have liked her to be smaller.

Re: If you saw Divergent, come on in!

  • I liked it as a whole. I love Ashley Judd but I kept thinking about scandal when I saw the dad. I also hate Caleb is also playing Gus in the fault in our stars, and therefore shailene's love interest... Too weird for me.

All in all Shailene grew on me. But I definitely saw Tris as small and more... Bland. I liked how small Christina was.

I hated they kept out how evil Peter was... No stabbing Edward in the eye... And he wasn't with AL trying to kill Tris.

Idk I'm obsessed with hunger game movies. I feel like I liked the divergent books better but the movie was just alright. Maybe it's my love for JLaw...

Ooooo, you're right!  I was preoccupied by Peter being her love interest in The Spectacular Now.

What's with all the incest, Hollywood?  Aren't there more young actors out there?

I feel like there should be more out there! My cw mentioned Peter being in another movie with Shailene.

  • I heard a rumor Amber from parenthood was going to be Hazel in the fault, and that would have been amazing! But then it changed to Shailene... Boo

I was just mad they left my favorite exchange from the book out of the movie.

I have something I need to tell you," he says. I run my fingers along the tendons in his hands and look back at him. "I might be in love with you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you, though."
"That's sensible of you," I say, smiling too. "We should find some paper so you can make a list or a chart or something."
I feel his laughter against my side, his nose sliding along my jaw, his lips pressing my ear.
"Maybe I'm already sure," he says, "and I just don't want to frighten you."
I laugh a little. "Then you should know better."
"Fine," he says. "Then I love you.”
  • I enjoyed it. honestly I felt like there wasn't as much left out of divergent as there was with the first hunger games movie.  like if someone that hadn't read divergent saw the movie, they would get it.  the entire time I watched the hunger games I wondered if other people understood what was going on.

I can't think of any of the story line that was left out of hg. I just asked my cw who didn't read it and he said he didn't understand the at each district had different jobs, but he got that from us talking about it. Other than that he followed the movie just fine.

Again... Maybe because I love hg so much I can't see a flaw in it. Haha.

I agree, but it all felt rushed.  I think if I hadn't read the book, I'd be like, "Wait, what?  How are they in love already?"
