Let's talk about it here, so that it can be spoiler free for those who aren't there yet.

Re: HIMYM finale discussion

  • My first reaction when it was over? I was throwing pillows and saying really? over and over and over again.

I hated it. Everything that I didn't want to happen did. Barney and Robin got divorced, the mother died, and worst of all, Ted got together with Robin. I don't know what I am most upset about. Anyway, I am at the point that I would like to forget that most of it happened.

I thought it was the worst way to end it. It was nothing like the rest of the show. At all. The characters weren't the same ones I've been watching for years.

Edit: firefox took my paragraphs away. Ugh. Sorry :( I wish they would have made the season as a whole more about the relationship of Ted and Tracy and the actual marriage of Barney and Robin instead of just the wedding. I think doing an entire season on the wedding was a huge waste of time. As far as the finale it all makes sense in a way. Ted and Robin always wanted to be together I think, but were just at different points in their lives. Robin wanted to focus in her career and Ted wanted a family with kids. When Robin found out she couldn't have kids she was upset about it. I think she really did want kids. Barney agreed with the idea of not having kids when he was marrying Robin, but I think he really wanted kids too. When Barney and Robin got divorced he went back to his old ways and finally the odds got him and he ended up with a baby. He fell in love with her instantly. I loved the scene in the bar where he followed the two girls and told them to go home. I really loved Ted's first wife and am sad they killed her off. I wish we would have had more time with her, but she served her purpose. She made Ted really happy and gave him 2 kids. Things with Ted always failed somehow so it made sense he would not get to have a happily ever after with her. Ted gets permission from his kids to chase after Robin. This way Ted and Robin get to be a family with kids. I loved that the blue french horn made a comeback. Marshal finally got to be a judge while Lily kept having babies. I loved the Halloween segment, the meeting segment, and a few others. On a whole I think the finale was much better than the season as a whole. I think I may be the only one who thinks this though.
  • I preferred Robin and Barney to Robin and Ted, and I personally loved this season. There were some really great episodes in the bunch (and some bad ones too, don't get me wrong) But I think the cruel thing was that they built up the wedding, and then divorced them a week later. I think I would have been more okay with the way they ended it, had they not played out the season this way. They might as well have ended it last season, because everything that happened over this season, basically contradicted everything from last night. Had the show ended five years ago? It would have been great. But they did so much so fast, for the sake of making it work.
