Try A Food You Don't Like and Have A Weekend With H Only

Alright ladies!  It's a new month and a new quarter so that means new challenges.

This months challenge is Try A Food You Don't Like And Haven't Tried in More Than A Year.  This quarters challenge is Have A Weekend With H Only.

Have any ideas of what food you'll try or what you want to do with H for a while weekend?

  • It's quite likely that I won't eat any foods I don't like...I'm super picky!

H and I spend every weekend together anyways but it would be nice to specifically plan to do something together...maybe go for a weekend trip to Niagara On the Lake.

  • The only thing I really hate is pickles.  I don't really care for mushrooms... I'm not a picky eater so this is kind of difficult.  Oh, I always forget about blueberries, I can't stand those either!

I'm watching for cheap groupons.  Definitely want to have a romantic weekend away with DH!!

  • I am not sure when my next full weekend alone with DH will be. He has been working every weekend since the beginning of last month.

As for food, I might try a tomato again. I am not a fan but I'll try.

  • This month's challenge will be tricky because there are so few foods I really dislike. Does it count if I just try something I've never had before?

Sure.  That's kinda what I'm doing.  I don't like bananas, so I've never had banana pudding.  My H is making it for his birthday next weekend and wants me to try it.

  • So I ended up doing the challenge today, go figure! My coworker brought in marinated whole garlic cloves and I ate one. I think raw garlic usually tastes pretty gross, but these were okay. Kind of like a spicy pickle. However, my breath was FOUL afterwards. LOL, thank god for gum!

My husband is the same but we made a deal once years ago that I would try eggs and he would try a pickle (I hate eggs in any form except in baking).  He bit the pickle and literally vomited as it touched his tongue...hilarious.

  • EDIT:  I tried a food I don't like!  I detest red peppers so much, but I ate some the other day because they are an ant-inflammatory and my skin is super inflamed.  I think they helped a bit!

I also tried raw vegan chocolate with ginger...it tasted like spicy dirt.

  • I tried peas in my Mexican rice on Friday. I mostly swallowed it without chewing, but I can say that I ate them!! haha.

I hate them in ANYTHING! I get made fun of because I sit there and pick them out usually.

  • We did a day trip in DC on Sunday. We went on an hour boat tour of DC, saw the cherry blossoms and then tried an African restaurant we had a groupon for. We had a lot of fun.
The only food I can think of that I don't like is mushrooms and H cooks with them all the time so I end up eating them or picking them out and giving them to H to eat. H made chicken marsala last week with mushrooms and I know I ended up eating some in the process.

  • Oh trying a food I don't like would be super easy...I don't like SO much...now if I could just get my mom to make something I don't like while I'm in isolation hah! That'll be the hard part. I did eat spinich or turnips (don't remember which) in the hospital when LO was born because they served them to me & I felt obligated since I was pumping at the time and I knew it was good for me... Still nasty!

As for spending a whole weekend with DH and no baby..not sure that's feasible for us since I'm not comfortable yet leaving her alone with someone other than DH or myself overnight.

  • I tried a food I don't like. It was a cherry tomato. I don't like fresh tomatoes to begin with but for lunch on Friday I got a container of fresh mozzarella which had some cherry tomatoes in it. It took me a whole to do but I finally bit into it and it was soooo gross. It was like someone blew their nose in my mouth because of all the tomato insides which are like snots. Yuck!!

  • This past Thursday was a food trying experience altogether. Our town recently opened a Japanese restaurant and my coworkers and I decided to go there for lunch since it was the one girl's last week. I retried onions in the soup I got (still not a fan). The teriyaki chicken I ordered had mushrooms with it, so I may have accidentally had those. I did get to also try yum yum sauce, ginger dressing and tofu for the first time. The sauce was wonderful and the dressing was good, but I don't think I'd do tofu again.

  • I forgot to post about the food I tried.  I was going to try a pickle, but I hate them sooooo much I couldn't bring myself to do it.  One day at work I was feeling MS I knew I needed to eat something.  I went to a coworker's desk and all she had was dark chocolate.  I love chocolate, but not a fan of dark.  I tried it and it actually was better than I remember.  Probably helped that it prevented me from puking. ;)
  • Raw red onions.  Still hate them!!!!

  • Calamari.  Wasn't terrible, but it was also drenched in marinara sauce!
