Fitness Post!

Okay, so I am still really struggling getting back into a routine.  Last week I had every intention of running 3x, but only did once.  This week I had the same goal and so far I've run once, with plans to run at North Park this weekend.  I thought the nicer weather would help my motivation, but no such luck.  I'm hoping these posts will make me accountable in some way.

How is everyone else doing?

Re: Fitness Post!

  • I received a jawbone UP 24 (similar to FitBit) yesterday as a bday present. I am excited and SCARED to track steps, food, sleep. It says that I got 10,000 steps yesterday, but I am not convinced. I need to calibrate it. Which comes to my stupid question. I live pretty close to North Allegheny High School. I was thinking of using the track to calibrate, but can't seem to find a place that lists if it is open to the public and the hours.

I don't really have plans as I need to ease back in to working out, but do plan on walking in the neighborhood as often as I can.
  • Tuesday I finally got in a real run. I haven't really run since the fall so I was really worried that I would be starting back at square 1.

But I was pleasantly surprised. I ran 3 miles and actually ran the whole entire time. I've always struggled with feeling like I need to take some walking breaks, but none! My pace averaged about 10 min/mile which is slow for me but I'm excited to have at least run it all!

I was sore yesterday though! I went to Zumba last night but the soreness didn't help! Zumba tonight and we will see if I can get in another run sometime.

  • Last week did great, this week....I walked a ton at the Pirates game - does that count? I did bring my gym bag to go today, but still a slacker week.
  • My new office will be a block from the north shore trail, so I hope to make time twice a week to walk at lunch. Plus, soon we will start taking family walks after dinner and weekend hikes.

I'm barely making time for decent sleep right now, but I have hope that I can get on track in a few weeks.

The good news about being past the most stress of job hunting and resigning is that I'm no longer stress eating ALL OF THE THINGS. ;-)

  • I am still not into a fitness routine. I know once I start I will be good. I think I need a plan. I also hope the aches I have been having will go away rather than get worse once I start back.  My eating has been mostly under control. Though yesterday I was up a little and the day before I had 3 glasses of wine while hanging out with neighbors after work.  Soooo, that wasn't helping any.

Unrelated to me, poor K may have a hernia and is crushed it may keep him from going to the gym.  it isn't painful but he is waiting until he sees a doc before going back to crossfit. he is like a sad puppy over it.
  • Well, I survived that 5K last week that I did absolutely no training for, so I was at least proud I was standing at the end :)  we walked up the 2 hills that were involved, and my time was awful, but I finished.  I will say, as much as I was hating running by last fall, I kind of enjoyed it again over the weekend (once I got over the feeling that my lungs were going to burst!)

I've done the 30DS twice this week and I am for 3 times per week, so I should be able to squeeze that last one in.  I'm also going to take the plunge and sign up for Pilates that's offered through work that will start in May, twice per week.

  • I finally ran 2 miles on Tuesday and 2.5 today. I was slow, but ran the whole time so I was pretty happy about that. I hope to get another run in on Saturday and two more runs in before Disney next week.
