Happy Day!

Our company changed our health insurance policy at the beginning of March.  It was a completely new policy from Blue Cross Blue Shield, and they did not have any information about it.  But in the fine print of the policy summary it said "Other covered items - Infertility."

So of course I contacted the person who handles our health insurance and asked if she knew what it covered.  She did not know and put in a request to have BCBS contact me to go over the specifics of the coverages once they had this new health policy written up.

The lady called me today and gave me the breakdown.....

$1,000 deductible, $3,000 Maximum OOP, $50 co-pays for each RE visit.
But the deductible and co-pays apply to the Maximum OOP.  So the max we will have to pay in a year is $3,000.

All labs, monitoring, testing, surgery, IUI, ultrasounds, everything = 100% covered.

Only limit is on how many IVF's they will cover.  Total is 4 procedures.
Once a live baby is acheived, they will cover 2 additional IVF's (she said they will cover for us to have more than 1 child through IVF).

All medications are covered and my $20, $45, $70 tier prescription coverage applies to these.  She said the average IVF cycle should only cost about $300 in medication.

I'm so freaking happy.

All of the employees in our small agency filled out a survey in August about our insurance coverages and what we would like to see.  I'm the only one in our office of child bearing age that hasn't started nor completed our family.  So I was really afraid to put the information about our struggles and how our policy at that time did not cover anything IF related, because they would know exactly who had put that.  It also would mean outing myself to my 2 bosses and a guy a year older than me, because they would be making the decision based on these questionairres.

So yeah, crying time at my desk.  The lady on the phone said she hadn't talked to anyone this happy about their insurance in a long time.  If only she knew.
Now if only my boss wasn't on a conference call right now.  I really want to go in his office and give him a big hug and thank him, but I know I will cry.

**We're a very small, close office.  So don't worry, it wouldn't be creepy if I did that.
