where to buy furniture??

So in May my Husband & are moving to the other side of town to A LOT nicer apartment in to a way better community the property is only 4 years old compared to the one we live in now that was built in the early 80s...The new apt. is a lot bigger then the one we have now by almost 400 sq ft. Our new place is 877sq ft. I am wondering where do you ladies think would be the best place to buy more furniture such as a dinning room sets, sofas and bar chairs? I am looking at walmart and target maybe ikea. I am now just kinda looking at bar stools for by the island for the kitchen I would like a couple bar chair for under 60$ but having a hard time finding a place.. We do not move till May 17th so I am just getting a head start plus I am so exited to move to a nicer place! I don't want to go to expensive just something nice for not to much. We have a like a fold out couch right now but I would like to put that in the sunroom so we can get a real sofa for the living room. We are so exited to move well I am exited anyways. I have attached the floor plan for our new place 1st photo and the place we live now so you can get the idea why we may need more furniture :D

Re: where to buy furniture??

  • When I lived in an apartment in college with a friend of mine we actually found a dining room table and bar stools at Big Lots. We had to put them together ourself (her BF helped) and it was actually really nice. I would look at places like Big Lots, Walmart, Target, Costco or Sam's. I would even try some local furniture stores sometimes they have really good deals and you may be able to find something they have on clearance or don't plan to ever sell that style of again.

H and I bought our living room furniture at a local store and they had everything on a half price sale I think our couch cost us around $175 and the loveseat was around $100.
  • My mom also got her dining room set and barstools from Big Lots. They are really nice and people are always complimenting it.

  • Ikea, Big Lots, Room Store and Ashley are our go to's around here, but I don't know what's available to you down in Florida.

  • Our house is almost completely Ikea, craigslist winners (like Marshells) and Jysk.

  • Ikea and I are having a love affair at the moment so I would recommend them. We also just got some awesome couches from Ashley Furniture.

  • I would also recommend IKEA and Big Lots. A lot of our place is IKEA and my parents have a sofa from Big Lots that isn't bad. We also just got a couch from a local furniture place that was having a sale so you could look around near you.

For non upholstered items you could try your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. You could also try there for upholstered items but the idea of something used by someone I don't know that I can't wipe down/sanitize kind of grosses me out.
