The King (with lots of SPOILERS)!!!!

I hate Xcor, but it was completely adorable when shopping for clothing.  I almost didn't hate him for a brief second.

And thank the Lord that Beth's pregnancy did not go the Reneseme route ::big sigh of relief::  For a moment there I was having the granddaddy of heart attacks.

And Assail, I am all over that (like in a cat lying in the sun on the newspaper you are trying to read at the moment kind of way).  And WTF?  I cannot accept Sola in Miami and Assail in Caldwell.  This BEST be the focus of Book #13....OR ELSE!

And Trez and Serena....I knew J.R. was going to leave us wanting.

  • YES!
I cosign everything in your post.
I really really enjoyed the book and the Trez and Serena stuff was so good.
I am dying for Assail and Sola's story.

  • AHHH!! I LOVED THIS BOOK!

This one may be one of my new favorites. There was so much happy! I love, love, love the way it ended. The scene where Wrath's mother told him to wake up and call the healer gave me CHILLS. Holy crap.

I am still processing but I'll come back once I do.

  • This was pretty much my favorite book so far. In the previous books, there was always someone's story that I didn't care to read. This one, I wanted to read about everyone! Absolutely loved every second of it!

  • I think I may the the minority.  I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite.  I'm wondering if I'm a little BDBd out? I HATE to even think that.

I loved Wrath and Beth.  Their story was great.  And like Booney, I was terrified it was going to be another Renesmee.  I wanted more of them, less of everyone else. It took me while to get into the groove of Wrath Sr.s story, but I got there eventually.

I liked Sola and Assail, I just really don't like when we have these side stories that take away from the main story.  I want to read a book with Sola and Assail, but I don't want it in the middle of Wrath and Beth's story.  Same with Trez/Selena and iAm.  I want to read their book (which is next!), but separately.  I'm having trouble moving back and forth with stories.

Xcor can go DIAF.  Not interested at all. Layla is such wet blanket in the last two books, I can't even deal.

There are so many characters that I think it's tough when she tries to bring them all in in some way.  Also, where the heck is Mary? I feel like she's been missing since Z's book.  I feel like the females are mentioned by name and never appear.

I'm happy with the way the democracy/kingship worked out.  I knew Wrath wouldn't be removed, but I was please with the way it happened.

Overall, I'm struggling to give it a 4.  I hate that so much.  Each individual piece was at least a 4, but together, it didn't mesh for me.

I expect much hate from my post.

  • I'm too tired on a Monday morning to go over all of my feels.  In short, I absolutely loved it and it was easily one of my favorite books in the series.

  • I think this one was one of my favorites as well.  I loved all the side stories (with the exception of Xcor and Layla).

  • I didn't mind XCor- I think he's fallen in love and has been struggling with that versus everything he thought he wanted... and that he knows he's been an SOB all along.

@SnShne322 I had to look up DIAF. Hilarious!

I wanted more stories with the commoners that Wrath was helping out and more glimpses of the other brothers/shellans. It would have been nice to get a peak into more than JM's head. I think we are going to get another book with him at some point to deal with the two pieces of him. I hope she alternates between new couple and the mated brothers.

I liked how iAm went with Beth for her appointments and I loved his relationship with Boo. Lots of love for Saxton too- I hope he finds someone special.

I feel like it was such a rush for the pregnancy and even though it was well foreshadowed, then we didn't get to experience much of it with Beth after she knew. Wrath's reaction was so sweet!

  • So I did really like it... but definitely not in my top 3 or so.  The writing sucked again, you guys!  The dialogue was really horrible and awkward, for so much of this book.

That said, I really did love so many parts, too.  @booneybear, the clothes scene totally melted me - I was like, can this be a different character? Because as soon as that scene was over I wanted Xcor and Layla to disappear again. Layla sucks.

I loved when Beth told Wrath she was having a boy and he went totally nuts, that was so adorable.  And I also love that Beth was the one to mastermind the whole takeover and the way that went down - oh and the flashbacks!  That was awesome.

Seriously though, the Shadows were my favorite part.  I love that Selena FINALLY got some, even though I still had the bluest effing balls over that whole thing.  Also, when iAm has the "moment" with Beth in the waiting room, I fell head over heels in love with him in that one paragraph.  I can't wait for their book!!!

  • I loved the iAm and Boo relationship.  A big hot muscle-y bad boy who loves cats will make me swoon and turn into a big puddle of goo in a heartbeat.

  • Finished last night and I'm in love!!! A new favorite. I like how they brought in some of the old characters. I actually didn't mind the side stories ans nor having the focus be onlyon Wrath and Beth

I love Tree and iAm and can't wait for their book.

    Wrath's parent's...so cute!!

Am I the only one who misses some of the older shellans? We haven't heard from Mary or Cormia. I'd live them to pop up, I know they don't have much to do with this story but they do live in the same house. Rhage and Mary were one of my favorites I'd live to see what they ate up to. Many books ago it mentioned Mary wanting a baby and for Rhage to father one with a chosen. I've been curious about it since.

  • I finally just finished this and had to come back and find this thread so I could read it. I really enjoyed this one more than the last several, and I didn't feel like I had to force myself to pick it up and keep reading. I loved all the Beth and Wrath stuff, and I had been kind of annoyed that they were going to be the subject of the book instead of a new couple. I loved how Wrath became a more visible king, and I also ended up liking the backstory of his parents (and I usually can't stand flashback stories like that).
