What book is your indicator of a new friend?
Re: What book is your indicator of a new friend?
my read shelf:
Now it's the Harry Potter books.
If you've actually read them, I will geek out with you about it.
I actually have a friend that didn't want to start reading them until she saw all the movies. Now that she's seen all the movies, she doesn't want to read them, because what's the point?
=((
She doesn't understand!!!
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”

When looking at somebody's bookshelves, I love when they have a variety of different genres for different age groups. It makes me happy.
Now, if someone on the Metro is reading a book, and I literally have to restrain myself from gushing to them about it, it would have to be a book that I loved that hasn't gotten a lot of hype (or a movie deal) yet. I barely blink at seeing Divergent and TFIOS anymore, where a year or so ago I would have been all swoony over it. Right now it would probably be one of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series or one of the Grisha series.
Also, I get much more excited about seeing someone read a lesser-known of my favorites. Like, if I see you reading Harry Potter or Hunger Games... we'll, congrats on not living under a rock. It's not really going to make me excited.
and don't get me started on how Outlander is now joining these ranks.
OH - Neil Gaiman is a definite "I like you." Automatic, no questions asked.

I try not to judge to harshly about it. I'm not sure that because they are just finding out about it now makes them like it less or differently than those who started at the beginning. KWIM?
