AW: Amazon Rave

I posted in last Friday's confessions about my dead Kindle and how I was contemplating using cc rewards to get a new one. Well, I figured I should at least contact Amazon first and was hoping they'd offer a discount on a new one at the very least.

They just outright replaced it! Despite it being 3 years old and 2 years out of warranty! Yippee!!!!!

  • What???  That's awesome!

When I messed up my kindle keyboard, they just offered me a discounted replacement.  They didn't offer me a free one!

  • What exactly did you say bc I'm in the same place...although my kindle is 4 years old but same deal...I didn't even bother trying to contact them but maybe it would be worth it after all!

This was what I heard was most people's experiences so was what I was hoping for. Super excited that I seem to have gotten a great rep in a good mood. :)

@sonore32 I did an online chat and got Rahul. I told him what was wrong with it and he had me go through a couple troubleshooting steps. When those didn't work he said he checked and saw I was well out of warranty but he was going to make an exception and replace it for free. :)

Awesome! But man, I wish I had read this post earlier today. My Kindle keyboard is frozen (it's been doing this off and on for months) and I broke down and bought a Paperwhite. I should have just called to see if they could do anything for me.

  • That's so cool. I had a pair of very pricey Dansko shoes break something on them recently. The store I bought them at said there's nothing they could do so I emailed the manufacturer and they agreed to replace them as long as I send them the old pair on their dime. I'll take it!
