Picture location suggestions

We're having family pictures taken next weekend and I'd love to take advantage of pretty spring flowers if possible. Suggestions for locations? I've seen Mellon Park come up a few times. We're west of the city and our friend/photographer is East - so somewhere central would be great :) Pics will be late afternoon/early evening if that helps...

We used Mellon Park in the past and it was pretty.

Our photos last year were on the North Shore at the park with the water steps. Not a ton of flowers, but I loved the photos.

We used the park and garden outside Phipps a few times, and then went down to the Pitt Fine Arts fountain another time.

In a few weeks, we're doing Point State Park.

  • The grounds around Phipps Conservatory or Pitt / CMU. West Park in the North Side is very nice - has a pretty bridge and "lake" Elizabeth.
  • I was also going to suggest Phipps if you are looking for flowers and greenery.

For park like settings, we've had photos at Mellon Park and West Park.  We've done the water steps on the North Shore and the Strip District, less park like and more urban, but I do love how our pictures turned out.

Are there any spots around the Pitt campus/Cathedral of Learning?

  • My sister had her wedding pictures taken in front of the Cathedral last year, they were gorgeous. We had ours done at Phipps.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.

The pic in my signature was taken at the Phipps Garden Center (not the conservatory). Lots of beautiful green space!

  • If I make it outside for lunch today, I'll look around campus for you to see if there are any flowers blooming yet! :)  I know they were starting to come up last week, so they might have bloomed by now.
