****** UPDATE****** Please send positive vibes my way!
Last week my father had surgery for what the surgeon thought was a Lipoma (fatty tumor). The thing was huge, like 18 cm long. He went for his follow up today and turns out it was not a Lipoma and is in fact cancer. The surgeon is pretty sure he got it all (was deeply embedded in muscle) but they are awaiting more test results. He goes back next week for more answers. Right now I can't seem to stop crying and I feel bad my DH doesn't know what to do with me.
Please keep my family in your thoughts and send some positive vibes our way :-)
Re: ****** UPDATE****** Please send positive vibes my way!
My parents went in Thursday evening to the surgeons office and still no results were in. The doctor stated he would be calling the lab the next day to get some answers. In my opinion the staff should have seen earlier in the day there no results and been calling sooner. He drained the site and my dad is still very sore and black & blue ( which is to be expected when an 18 cm x 14 cm mass is removed from underneath muscle). Dr has indicated in might be a Liposcarcoma which is the malignant form of a Lipoma.
Dr calls my dad on Friday late afternoon telling him it is NOT cancer. Sample is being sent to Sloan Kettering for second opinion but he is pretty confident the lab got it right. My only guess is when my dad was there the week before he shut down after he heard the word cancer and possible didn't hear him say "possibility".
Thanks again for all your thoughts, prayers, and positives vibes, clearly it worked :-)
