update on shades

so I went and looked at the roller blackout shades in person and I didn't like them at all. and so then I thought maybe i'd just go with a roman shade since I have them in several rooms of our house but they changed the material they're made out of and I wasn't a fan.

so I ended up with a honey comb shade. we'll see if I keep them. it was between those and more of a plantation shutter type shade, but I didn't like all the strings that those have on them. the honey comb shade doesn't have any strings

Re: update on shades

  • I like honeycomb blinds! My dad and SM have them in all the bedrooms at their house. They look so much nicer than the basic plastic blinds in most places (all over my house, blech).

What color are you getting them in?

  • That's too bad the blackout shades were ugly! I've never tried the honeycomb type, do they block lots of light?

not at all! ha. but I figure everyone's thoughts on this topic yesterday were all over the place so it probably didn't matter

I went with white. they had a natural, but it was a dirty looking natural...almost like an almond and I didn't think i'd be happy with it in the end
  • We have these (or something really similar, but I think it's this brand). Cordless, cellular blackout shades. They go up and down easily and really do block the light.

good to know, thanks! i'll have to go check them out
  • We have regular "blinds" and cute curtains my mom made. We ened up just putting some blackout curtains on a tension rod behind the curtain (you can't see them). So you can always adjust later.
