Come in Game of Thrones peeps! (***SPOILERS***)

@amandaf6383 @luckyangel07

Well? Was it everything you wanted it to be?

I was really happy with the way they portrayed it... it was pretty much how I pictured it going down from the book. The tension between everyone on the dais at the wedding was fucking palpable. *I* was uncomfortable watching everyone being so uncomfortable. UGH!

Sansa had her necklace from Ser Dontos on.

I loved the verbal sparring match between Tywin and Oberyn.

And the exchange between Jaime and Loras, omg. And Cersei and Brienne?

And we finally saw Bran again!

Oh, I almost forgot about the Boltons. And Reek. And their hunting adventure. :-/

So much is left unsettled!! This is the kind of episode where an hour just doesn't seem like enough time!

Re: Come in Game of Thrones peeps! (***SPOILERS***)

  • I seriously wish Games of Throne was on 12 hours per day, interlaced with 12 hours of Walking Dead.

    - I was having panic attacks watching the wedding dais shit go down. I knew what was going to happen and I was just like HE IS A FUCKING ASSHOLE! JUST DIE ALREADY!!

    - They did a really good job at making people who hated Joffrey almost feel bad for him at the end, he was a scared dying boy (but I was still cheering inside)!

    - I felt very bad for Shae BUT...do you think THAT whole situation is similar to the books because, if so, I don't feel bad for her at all.

    - The BOLTONS. Ugghhhhhh. Hate them. They are fucking batshit. Who was that poor girl at the beginning? Did we know her? Also poor Theon Reek.

Am I the only one who is starting to think that Melisandre is not as nutso as I originally thought? And do I actually like Stannis??

  • There was so much going on, but I was outloud cheering when Geoffery kicked it! I haven't read the books so it was a happy surprise.  And I didn't feel bad one bit.

I was so confursed about the Boltons at the beginning and that girl....I didn't recognize anyone.

I f'ing love this show and totally agree I wish it was on more than 1hr a week...ugh, I can't wait for the next episode!

  • I almost feel like Joffrey had too good of a death--I mean, he was being cradled by his mother and had his father by his side as he died. He deserved much less in that regard.

I honestly don't remember the Tyrion/Shae thing from the books, so I can't compare the nuances between the two... but I do feel bad for them; Tyrion more than Shae. The pain on his face when he had to say all that shit to get her to leave, OMG. That poor guy can never catch a break.

Did you read/hear the crackpot theory that Roose Bolton is really a vampire? lol, I listened to that on one of my podcasts last week and could NOT stop thinking about it during the Bolton scenes, so I was a little distracted through them. Didn't Ramsey send Balon Greyjoy Theon's dick in a box last season? I'd be WAY more pissed than Roose seemed to be if my hostage was broken as badly as Theon is. BY MY OWN SON. I can't wait to see what happens there. I don't think the girl they were hunting was anyone in particular, but of course, I could be wrong.

I think Melisandre is nutso. I think Stannis is nutso. I think Lady Selise is nutso. Shireen is the only sane Baratheon out there. Stannis needs to listen to Ser Davos more and worry less about Melisandre and her creepy shadow babies.

also, I was bummed there was no Arya this episode.

I am pretty sure the girl they were chasing was one of the ones with was sent in to seduce Theon.  At least that is what people are saying.

I loved the death (that I knew was coming thanks to last week's thread on GOT).  Dh was surprised though.

SO jealous of everyone who was able to watch last night! I just KNOW what had to have happened but since DH doesn't get back from Boston until late tonight, I have to wait to watch it with him. I'll be back in this post tomorrow.

  • Yep- that seems right.

Her saying that nobody should die at a wedding pretty much sold me on that theory.

  • ^^^ Yup! Lady Olenna is such a bad ass!
  • "You could count the people who didn't want Joffrey dead on Jaime's right hand."
    Too soon, seahorse. Too soon.
  • I hate that I was out all day and missed this whole discussion!! Holy crap, I was CHEERING on my couch.

There was so much going on, but I was outloud cheering when Geoffery kicked it! I haven't read the books so it was a happy surprise.  And I didn't feel bad one bit.

Just for clarification, because you haven't read the books, and names can be confusing as shit, but it's "Joffrey".

I didn't picture his death exactly that way when I read the book. I didn't picture blood running out of orifices. I pictured it more as looking exactly like choking, only there was nothing in his throat. I think they filmed it that way to make it more obvious to the general viewership that he did NOT simply choke.

I looooove how subtle it all was. DH was trying to figure out whodunit at the end of the episode. My lips are sealed. :)

The girl Ramsey was chasing in the beginning is a random maid, I believe? There is actually a scene in the books about him going on these "hunts" after people. I believe he then names his dogs after the women he's hunted down.

No...Roose is not a vampire. LOL. People are ridiculous.

I so wish Oberyn ended up besting all the Lannisters in the end; he's got a vicious wit!! Still looking forward to seeing things unfold in Dorne.

Stannis and Melisandre are the only ones right now paying any heed to the danger in the North. They're massively overzealous and I'm not a fan of their methods (hello, burning people for their beliefs??), but they're in more of the right place at the moment than anyone else is (you know, except the Night's Watch - which I'm so glad we'll see again in the next episode). Lady Selise really is nutso, but she's such a minor character.

I'm curious to see if they keep the Shae/Tyrion storyline true to the books. I can honestly see them cutting out the rest of it to keep her looking good and him loving her, but hurting from having to send her away so cruelly. Rather than hurting for...other...reasons.

  • Lucky, you really should suspend disbelief for a while and read some crackpot theories. I think you'd get a kick out of them! And I mean, come on, there are dragons, skin changers, wargs, and giants. Why not vampires? :)
  • @luckyangel07 - thanks for the correct spelling - I really had no idea how that name would be spelled let alone all the others!

This is one of the storylines that I almost hope doesn't stick close to the book - and I nevvvvvvvvver usually want things to stray.

I kind of agree! I hated the way it turned out in the book. I'm praying she really did just leave. But...I don't want to get my hopes up. I don't think they'll let him off that easy.

In the book, though, she wasn't as sincere as she is on the show so that's why I have trouble imagining that coming true.
