WIAR: This is absolutely fascinating. "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Tal
I'm not finished with this yet, but
this book is so fascinating! I'm learning so much. I thought a couple of friends were exaggerating when they said it was life changing, but it is really changing some of the ways I view myself and others. Some of it I've heard before (and some of her conclusions seem a tad stretched), but it does make me think things about myself that I thought were forms of social anxiety before -- as in, flaws -- are just the way I was born and the way my brain works. It's just that society views that as a flaw or at least doesn't value it, but there ain't crap we can do to change it. It's genetic. It even gets into what role personality types played in the stock market crash and the recession.
I'd encourage anyone to read this book, introvert or not, as it might help you understand workplace, family and friend dynamics (and is quite eye opening on the extrovert front too). Fascinating!
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

This book was recommended to me by a parent of one of my sophomores. I loved it - it has changed how I look at myself and my students.
