is it to soon pack for a move??

H & I are moving across town in just about month to a bigger better apartment. I am so exited to move to a nicer place! I want to start to organize things and start packing now... Is it too soon to start packing things that we wont use a lot?? I am just over anxious about moving??? Moving day is May 17th..

Re: is it to soon pack for a move??

  • I would start packing. It will help once the time comes to actually pack up everything. And once moving day is here you will be glad you have so much done.
  • I'm with Ashley- we started boxing things up about a month before we moved last time and it made it a lot less stressful.  This time around I don't know when we'll find a house and what our closing timeline will be so we haven't started yet, but I probably will as soon as we know a date :)

  • My H thinks I am nuts for wanting to start packing things a month a head of time. Only bad thing is when we move to this apt. we threw away a lot of boxes... oh well we have lots of suite cases to pack things into.. and lots of the "green" shopping bags.

  • Nope now is the time to start weeding out stuff you don't need and packing up stuff that isn't used day to day. We moved a year agp this weekend and I started with the xmas stuff....

  • You can go to grocery stores and ask them if they have any boxes they are getting rid of. And tell your H you are just packing away winter stuff or shoes or items that aren't every day. Obviously I wouldn't suggest towels or cooking utensils but seasonal stuff.

  • I agree with everyone else, it is not too early to start going through stuff, deciding what to donate/sell and what to pack.

Also, in addition to grocery stores, you can try any "big box" store like Walmart, Target, etc. Just stop in and ask them to put some aside for you (otherwise they break them down at the end of the night).

  • I think the sooner the better, so I would start now.
