WWGPD - Provera

Originally FF gave me CHs at CD49. I've never been convinced I ovulated, which is proving to be true. If I went by the CHs, I'd be 19dpo-ish. I POAS this morning, just to double check and, as expected, BFN. My question is, I have a bottle of Provera at home. Considering the wishy-washiness of this cycle, would you do one last temp check tomorrow (since I've slacked the last few days) POAS one more time, then just start the Provera? Or would you go get a blood PG test done first, just in case. I'm 97% positive that ovulation never occured, which would be the norm for me. And it's CD 68 today. I'm mentally done with this stupid cycle since FF got my hopes all up with CHs. Even if I HAD ovulated, it's not likely anything would come of it this late in the cycle anyway!

So, WWGPD?

Just start Provera or go get a blood test first?

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

Re: WWGPD - Provera

  • That's a hard one. I personally would wait out until CD90 before taking Provera, and would call and ask my Dr first before starting it.

Yeah, I used to wait until 90-120 days (or more), but i'm to the point now where I just say "screw it" because any O after 60 days is likely pointless anyway. My RE technically said I could call every 30-45 days, but I prefer to at least get in a longer cycle just in case I O. After 5 1/2 years though, I'm tired of waiting that long. Been around this block WAY too many times to count. I'm only wavering because I already have a filled 'script for Provera at home. One less stick I have to go through and one less hour of work I have to miss.

  • Does your RE like to do a blood test each time?  If not, then I say go for it if you don't want to keep waiting.

Yep, RE always requires a blood test. Technically I could go to the OBGYN in town as they only do pee sticks, but I loathe going there. The waiting room is full of newborns and very pregnant women and they always make me wait forever so I avoid it like the plague. I just don't think I could handle it right now :( The bw doesn't really bother me that much, it's moreso that I'd have to get time off work to go do it, which is frustrating.

  • I would POAS and then take it if it was negative.  But that's just me!  I would think if you did O it should be positive by now if it were going to be positive and would trust the stick just the same as a blood test.

  • I think after a BFN this morning I'd just go ahead and start it. If you want to do one more tomorrow to make sure that's good too. I wouldn't bother at this point doing a blood test unless you want to be 100% sure.

  • I'd POAS and start the Provera if bfn. I didn't need blood work every time I got Provera, and my RE didn't require me to wait as long as you already have to start it.
