WW3TD?

I need my 3T ladies for opinions pleeeeease!

As we all know, I have the 75 lb weight loss that I'm working on to be able to be eligible for IVF. Also, when I go back to the RE, it will be a different one (already selected based on personal referrals, success rates, Google, etc.).

Do you think that I should contact them soon, as they require that I redo the testing with them (b/w, HSG, S/A, etc.) prior to treatment? Or do you think I should wait until I've lost at least a chunk of the weight? I don't want to go just to be stunted by the weight loss but I can't help but think that the previous RE missed something somehow (since I've been Oing on my own pretty regularly and still no bambino) and maybe I don't have to escalate all the way to IVF.

Opinions please loves :-)

Cheering on all of my 3T ladies!  DX with PCOS - 11/2012 DH S/A & HSG - Normal - Too many rounds of Clomid = BFNs - New RE 5/2014 - Repeat Testing - Losing 40lbs before injects/IUI

Re: WW3TD?

  • If you think you'd be more at ease by going to see the new RE, then go for it.  The RE will be able to tell you if he wants you to wait for more weight loss or if it's ok to do the testing now.  I'm the type where if I have questions, I need them answered asap, so I'd probably schedule the appt and see what the RE recommends.

  • I would call and set up an appointment with the new RE.  You will be going on their protocal after the weight loss, and maybe they will have a different take on moving forward.  Since you've been Oing on your own, then maybe he/she will want to try some other things to help you get a bambino by helping that along.  It wouldn't hurt to get another opinion from the start.

  • I would go now to get the ball rolling.

If you want to lose weight first I get it, but perhaps this RE won't have the same requirement?  Mine never questioned my weight, and I am pretty far up there.  I didn't have time on my side given my age though, I am not sure how old you are.

  • Do you have a personal weight loss goal that is separate from TTC?  Maybe reach that and then call?  Or if you think it will help set your mind at ease making an appointment now, I see no harm (aside from cost and time spent at the consultation).  It might be nice to talk to a new RE now and see what their plan is for you.

  • I think I will make an appointment. I've been leaning towards it but always kind of stopped myself with the "What's the point, I'm too fat for treatment right now.." but I'm over negative thinking and think that maybe they will have additional advice/feedback that can keep me motivated.

  • I think that's a good idea. What's the worst that could happen? They tell you to lose weight, which you're already doing. But on the positive side, they might give you some more insight or positive feedback which could give you some extra motivation. GL!

  • I'd go ahead and at least make a consult appointment. Meet with them and see what they suggest as far as weightloss, what tests you should do now, what tests you should wait on, etc. Like pps said, they may have other guidelines or even less strict ones. You may have to repeat some stuff later one when you're ready to move forward, but at least you could get some of it out of the way. GL! :)

  • Going to the RE, even though I knew the weight restriction was likely going to be there was the push I needed to actually get serious about things.  Different REs have different restrictions on weight.  I'd go in, the worst that happens, is you are in the same spot you are in now.

  • All of my REs required their own testing. So, there's that. I would go, just to set your mind at ease?
  • I would make the appointment.  Your new RE may have different restrictions as far as weight goes so you may not have to lose as much weight or might have to lose more; I'd want to know that exact number right from the start.  Since testing doesn't depend on the number on the scale, I'd go ahead and get that done as well if your RE wants to, that way you have some of those appointments/tests out of the way so it isn't so much to do later on once you hit your goal.
