Well, you don't have to do the work. I just don't know what color to do it in.

The kitchen is pale/yellowish green.  This color needs to go upstairs to the no-natural-light hall.  WWYD?

***Updated****  We ended up going with a creamy yellow- Sherwin Williams Sunbeam Yellow (which is part of their historical collection and matched up to the era of the house.  And it is practically the same shade as the vintage stool I have in my kitchen)

Re: Paint my hall!- Updated

  • So... it really is difficult?  Or do you all hate my space and don't know how to tell me?

    :((
  • I'm just terrible with paint colors :(  I've been wanting to paint our dining room since we moved in years ago, but just can't seem to commit to a color.

  • Kev suggested a yellow- which could work.  I keep thinking blue because of the chair but downstairs is blue... and I hate to do too much of the same.

Emmy, do you have any art or printed fabric in your dining room?  I find it easiest to pull a color from either of those (or a rug) to start with.
  • Our house updates have taken so long because I haven't been able to decide on paint colors!

You could do a gray or a gray/blue, that might look nice...maybe a green?  We just painted a navy blue accent wall in our house, and I really like it, but that might be too dark for your hall space.

  • I would do a pale cream, like the mat in the framed picture or a pale blueish-grey.

If my fabulous place of employment allowed me to see this picture instead of a red x, I would give you some feedback!
    ;)
  • I like Amy's suggestion. Yellow might be tough in the no natural light hallway.
  • I can't see the yellow picture either, Amanda :(  it just says image

Ugh, I am dreading picking paint. We have the same color hardwoods but I also have that same color wood on my walls. I know what I WANT but I know it will look horrible with the orangey wood.

I like the yellow, it is nice and cheery. I do agree that yellow is not great going up stairs. Our old house was yellow in EVERY SINGLE ROOM, except the pink and brown bathroom. And it did look almost dingy in our upstairs hallway because of the lack of light. We painted it a really pale blue and it really brightened up the space. This color ran from our downstair foyer up the stair into the upstairs hallway. Our dining room was a very similar color to your living room.

  • Apple green or a light aqua blue = MCM fabness to go with your rocking furniture, or a gray.
  • Bump with an updated photo
  • I really like the yellow Amanda!  Looks great!
