S/O: Wacky Wednesday (vacation spots)
Have you ever traveled to a place that wasn't worth the hype? Why did you think so?
It's slippery as waterweed.

We walked from our cruise ship to Fort Fincastle rather than taking a taxi or an excursion bus. Walking through town is actually a very scary and sad experience.
We also took a water taxi over to Atlantis and toured the aquarium. I love aquariums and it was pretty impressive, but not for the money they charged. I'd like to do the water park there at some point I guess, but usually I'm less interested in the cruise excursions and more interested in local culture. But there's a reason why most Nassau excursions aren't even in Nassau. It's very run down.

It's not worth it to go to Mexico, IMO. I spent the whole time terrified because it's so dangerous over there. The food was awful, and I got food poisoning. Our beaches are just as nice in FL
Though...on my birthday I went to a very odd place called Teddy Bear World. Here's a taste of that joy...

Gosh, I love so many of these places! Playa del Carmen has some amazing diving and I adored Cabo. I love NYC, all of it.
I'm preparing for the hate as I say Disney. Now that my kids are school age they beg to go all the time, and I just hate the crowds and the lines and everything about it. There are tons of fantastic things to do in Orlando but after spending all day at the park I'm too exhausted to do it.
My family took a trip to New Orleans when I was in HS and I spent the whole time bored out of my mind. I was in that weird age where I was too young for the adult stuff but too old for the kid stuff. I remember thinking the food was by far the best part.
I went with some friends to Tiajuana when we were in college and felt like we were in the wrong place the entire time. I didn't feel safe. But, we were staying with friends in San Diego and decided to go to TJ for a couple days last minute, so we did very little research and probably put ourselves in dangerous situations including being in bad areas that we were just too stupid/naive to know better.
I was really disappointed in Atlantic City, NJ. I'm not sure what I thought it would be, but it wasn't that.
