dr's appt. update

baby boy is doing good! he's locked and loaded in the head down position:)

my midwife said that next week they'll check me and I'll have my group b strep test done.  I also asked her a ton of quetions.

after my inital cervical check at 36 weeks do I need to be checked again - she said no def not. so that made me happy

she said I can stay home as long as possible so I can be eating and drinking.  once at the hospital she wants clear liquids only but she'll allow crackers if I'm feeling like a really need food

I don't need to be hooked up to an iv unless i'm GBS+. they'll take my blood when I get there and put the iv thing in but won't hook me up.

she's also totally fine with intermittent monitoring. from eveyrthing i've read being stuck in a bed stalls labor and so I want to make sure I can move around.

skin to skin after birth - she said the hospital will put baby on my check for about 2 hours and then do the eye gel and stuff.

I think thats it. it was a really great appt. and I love my midwife!!

Re: dr's appt. update

  • That all sounds like wonderful news, especially the IV thing!  I was GBS+ and had to be hooked up right away, and I found the tubes to be super annoying.  Much better to be unhooked and to be able to move around freely :)

Yay!! Everything Sounds pretty similar to my experience. Though my doc doesn't do cervical checks until 39 weeks.

I was gbs positive with Zack and had them do a hep lock in my arm, so after the initial dose of antibiotics, they removed all the tubes and whatnot. They're supposed to give the antibiotics every 4 hours in which case it would've been easy to give me another dose with the hep lock, but zack arrived well before the second dose.
