NGPR: Gone Girl Trailer!

I know a chunk of GP has read Gone Girl, so I wanted to know your thoughts on the trailer. If you haven't seen it yet, here it is: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/fox/gonegirl/

I wasn't sure how I felt about the casting, but I think Ben is going to be a superb Nick, they didn't show enough of Amy in the trailer for me to have an opinion of her, but I am pretty excited about this movie!

  • Before watching the trailer, I would have said I had little interest in watching the movie because I had such vivid images in my head from reading the book.

After the trailer- I. Can't. Wait.

And changing the end? Now I am intrigued.

The trailer for that looks nothing like the book, though. I understand that they're competing with the Hunger Games and Divergent fans, but it looks waaaaaay too futuristic.

That would be great. I hate the ending to the book and felt like something else should happen next, at least. I'm not sure how I feel about that trailer -- it felt really disjointed, but I'm still excited for the movie. Gillian Flynn writes some creepy, creepy books. I read Sharp Objects a few months ago and that one creeped me out even more than Gone Girl.

I am excited about it. The dwelling looks just like I've always imagined (so IKEA!). I just finished reading this book with my kids, so I've been trying to really focus on the setting of the novel on my own reread. It's not easy because Lowry doesn't give much detail, but I think it's important to remember all the scientific advances of the community.

This is true. I always imagined their community as very minimalistic, but in a clean, super-modern way, not an apocalyptic future sort of way. I wonder if they'll shoot the majority of it in b&w, since no one sees different colors of things (except the Giver, and then Jonas).

  • @LuckyAngel7 - I think it supposed to be minimalist and clean in the future. I've always pictured it as a very high-tech modern society after some type of division of our society.

My kids struggle with the setting, and I think it's because to book cover throws them off. The book cover looks like you are settling down to read Longfellow or something!
