  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Our weekend was really pretty good. My sister was off on Friday so we went shopping and I found the outfit for my son's 1st birthday party and pictures which was awesome. We also went out for lunch and both DH and I got gas on Friday. So Friday was $160.

Saturday I ran some errands, we needed new light bulbs for the kitchen and I got some craft supplies for things I"m starting to make for DS's birthday, that all was $40.

Sunday we went to church, had potluck breakfast ($20 donation). So a pretty good weekend. Oh, and we booked a trip for Memorial day weekend- driving out of town, so we just booked the hotel room which for the 3 nights was $600. That was budgetted though.

    2. Any progress towards goals? We got our solar screens installed last week and were able to pay cash for them, so that felt great!!!

    3. What restaurant is your favorite to eat at? I don't really have a favorite restaurant, but a favorite style- seafood and sushi. I could go out for that like every day.

  • 1) I spent about $15 eating out for dinner on the way home Friday and lunch on Saturday with a friend.  My parents treated me to dinner Saturday, and my mom did the Easter thing.  She sent so many leftovers home with me that I didn't have to buy groceries for this week! I also spent about $40 in gas.

    2) I sent an extra $250 to H's undergrad loans.  We've also pulled out all the money leftover in his student loan account, and we are holding it in savings.  We may spend a little more of it for last-minute bar expenses, but other than that he's pretty much done spending it!  Once we are sure he passed the bar we will "return" everything left in that account and use it to pay down a couple of his smaller student loans.  We're going to hold it until his bar results, though, just in case...

    3) I'll admit I'm a restaurant snob.  I rarely pay for it, but H and I love very very good food, and when I'm being reimbursed by my firm I will take people to higher end places so I can eat it too.  I like really good fish, steak, Italian, pretty much anything.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? We ate more food out then we planned, but our grocery trip was a lot cheaper. So we probably evened out on our budget.

    2. Any progress towards goals? We were able to save quite a bit again because of Jesse's swing shift paychecks. We are getting a little burned out so we are trying to stay focused and not be hard on ourselves if we spend too much on something we want. We have achieved a lot so far and we just got to keep trying.

    3. What restaurant is your favorite to eat at? I love Mongolian grill!!

  • 1 - not bad.  friday we went out to dinner ($40), saturday went to target for toiletries ($85), sunday went to grocery store to get food for dinner ($10) and Kmart for potting soil ($6)

2- Yes! I put $217 to the e fund which brought the total to the 3 months expenses I was wanting.  That goal is complete now :)

3- I love all asian but our fav restaurant is Genghis Kahn.  It's a mongolian grill.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good. Saturday - $40 for some new jeans for DH (they were on sale, yay!). Sunday - $15 for a few things from the auto store. Total = $55

    2. Any progress towards goals? We changed out the rear brakes/pads on DH's car and replaced the motor & regulator for the passenger window as well. That saved us several hundred dollars, and we decided to put that money towards savings.

    3. What restaurant is your favorite to eat at? I don't really have a favorite, but if I had to choose I'd pick this little Brazilian place nearby--their food reminds me of the stuff my grandma used to cook. I love to eat all sorts of food, but it can be hard to find a restaurant that has a good offering of vegetarian selections (I can only eat so much soup/pasta/salad, haha) so I tend to cook at home a lot.

Also AW moment for myself! I got my acceptance to the local college and start classes in the fall! Now I just have to figure out which two I want to take first!

Congratulations! That is super exciting  :)

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

I went home this weekend(5 hours away) and to a Nationals Game, AND my little sister's baby shower. All of it was budgeted, so I'm pretty proud of that...but I now have no more cushion in my gas envelope until payday.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

Not really. I got some money for Easter so that will go into savings.

    3. What restaurant is your favorite to eat at?

Any all-you-can-eat REAL seafood place. The kind with newspaper on the tables and a dock out back that they are unloading crabs from. YUM!

    1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad! We had about 20 people over for Easter dinner so I spent $50 at the grocery store and that's it. My FI is back on weekend nights which helps a lot since we don't do anything on the weekends now.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Yep! Paid down some debt and put a little money into savings. We're only 25 days from the wedding so aside from MM stuff I finally got my dress fitted and chipping away at shower thank yous from last weekend! I'm really hoping to up my progress towards once this wedding is over. Shew!

    3. What restaurant is your favorite to eat at? Ah this is so hard to decide. I'd have to say Chesapeake Inn, its a local place in MD that my FI and I take our boat to. They have great seafood pizza!

Edited because I apparently can't spell on Monday.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Wasn't bad. I did spend over a few things, but they were reasonable:

Friday: $32 (on groceries and stuff for 2 baskets - $12 over budget, $90 for gas for DH & I)

Saturday: $17.50 for lunch out with mom

Sunday: $63 on lunch out with the family (only $13 over budget)

    2. Any progress towards goals?

No progress other than staying in budget.

    3. What restaurant is your favorite to eat at?

I love Ruby Tuesday's. But I love going out to eat anywhere.

    -Texas Roadhouse

  • 1. Spent $75 for a day at the ball park. Geez, the MLB can be expensive!. That doesn't include the cost of a tickets or parking either. But at least our team won!

    2. The first mortgage payment came on Saturday, only 359 more to go!

    3. We have a wonderful downtown area where there are a ton of great small business restaurants from casual to high end. We try to avoid the chains, but I do like Mitchell's Fish Market, and Maggiano's.
  • 1.  Not so great.  We overspent in the "fun" category by about $60 going out for drinks (two separate times).  Something about this spring weather has me in the mood to overspend for some reason.  I'll need to get this back under control!  Some of this we can cover under our "miscellaneous" budget category, but others will have to come out of the travel savings.  I'm hoping to also make back a little by using my pharmacy rewards+red card+cartwheel for this week's groceries.  Today we went to the Boston Marathon, which was so amazing to see, and didn't spend a penny so that made me feel better too.

    2.  Some negative progress due to the above.  Also, I found out I'm being laid off from my second job in a few weeks.  This will cut about $320 from our monthly budget-not insignificant at our pay level.   I usually use part of this to pay for my Zumba classes, but save the majority.  The job is offering us severance, which is very nice and DEFINITELY not something they have to do at a part time position.  I'm trying to look at it as a "God closes a door and opens a window" situation.  It's pretty emotional, however; the job is taking care of children at my church on Sunday mornings, and some of my current crop first graders I've known their whole lives.  :-/

    3.  On our honeymoon, we went to a verryyyy upscale restaurant called Hugo's in Portland, ME.  We did a tasting menu with wine pairings, and it was the best food I've ever had in my life, hands down.  Closer to home, our nearest small city has a fantastic, very high-quality sushi restaurant that we usually go to for birthdays or big celebrations.
  • @brij2006 Awesome that you got a pig. I've heard that pork prices will be jumping very soon!

  • 1. At breakfast on Friday with MW's family they harassed me to the point that I went out and bought $1200 worth of clothes, this is a suit, two shirts, one tailored, and under shirt, two ties, and a pair of dress shoes (I needed the shoes to replace the ones that I currently have).  Then MW and I went out to dinner for our date night at our favorite Hibachi place.

    2.  I actually put us back a few months with my suit purchase.  I should be getting a promotion soon so I should have this knocked out in a few months.  I am one of those people that tend to run numbers in my head and how to balance my income to help out our family budget as needed.

    3. MW loves Olive Garden and we both love Hibachi Japan so we tend to go to these places the most when we go out to eat and have extra money to spend.
  • 1. Saturday $8 frozen yogurt, $40 personal trainer, $36 grocery store. Sunday $0!

    2. Put some money into our 'baby fund' account.

    3. Love Thai food or Japanese.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Weekend was normal - groceries ($140), target ($13). However, we have a massive unexpected sewer repair scheduled for Monday. $6,488 and none of it is covered by home owner's insurance or by the village. For those looking for a house that's older (ours was built in the 1920's)- with the inspection, think about having a sewer company come and put a camera down the line.. make sure everything is ok.

    2. Any progress towards goals? We're up to date on everything- the repair will come out of our savings account and we'll pay it back.

    3. What restaurant is your favorite to eat at? Thai or sushi- any day, everyday.

  • @cbee817 - was it a ceramic pipe that burst?  The old sewer lines around here are all ceramic and tree roots tend to shatter them eventually.

Yes it is- we have cast iron out of the house that hooks up to a ceramic pipe. There is a large chunk of it missing right at the join to the main line. Work is getting done today- we'll see what happens!
