QOTD 4/21

Have you ever heard a slang word and had to look up the meaning of it? What was it?

  • I have had to look up several words on urbandictionary.com including starfish and the grossest "salad tossing".

  • More and more every year. Nothing is coming to mind but a few years ago I looked up DTF from Jersey shore...

  • Yes...I've had to use Urban Dictionary a few times. I don't remember what I've looked up though.

  • Swamp donkey and ditch pig are the most recent ones I can think of.

I just looked these up!  I've had several things I've had to look up on urban dictionary, can't think of specifics though.
  • I don't ever look them up because I can guess that the meanings are gross or inappropriate.  If there is a word I really want to know I ask my younger brother, who is now 20 years old.  He watches a lot of TV and stuff so he is pretty current.

I  HATE the word "twerking" though.  It means the same thing as "grinding", so why did they make a new word?!

  • I never understand any of the slang words. At all.  I normally don't try to look them up or anything.  I just have a moment of feeling old and then thankful for not being young and stupid anymore!  LOL!

  • I never look anything up I just usually ask my students that i have a good relationship with and will tell me without making me feel old and not with it.

  • If it's a word I don't know, it's usually used by a friend who's asking "have you ever heard of this?" and then they explain it. But yes, I look things up. Especially since we're big Cards Against Humanity people.

  • I haven't ever looked anything up but more and more I have no idea what slang words mean. My friend just recently looked up "watermelon" and "surf boarding" from Beyoncé song drunk love.
  • ^^ Well I just had to look both of those up too, lol
