I want to like baseball

What do I need to do to get into it? Just start watching? I find it very boring, but I think if I understood the strategy better I would enjoy it more.

I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.

  • LOL  So THAT'S how it works. :P

  • What @Aimothy said.

Plus, people watching totally makes up for the fact that you will miss things that happen live.

I love baseball. Go to a tigers game. Or even just a white caps game. Better yet, take a trip to Chicago and see the cubbies.

I think the beautiful thing about baseball is that you don't ever run out if time. It isn't like football or hockey where you get momentum and then the time runs out. Baseball is so simple. I just think there is a purity and excitement in its simplicity.

  • You're killin' me, Smalls!

That said, I agree with the others... go to a few live games! If you have a minor league team near you, go to those games too. They're smaller scale so you don't get overwhelmed and they're SUPER fun!

Oh, and you have to watch The Sandlot. That's a MUST.

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

  • And A League of Their Own?

I think maybe I will give a game another try. But with better seats and hopefully nice weather.

  • Go to Chicago and watch the Cubbies.  Get tickets for the Bleachers, and make sure you bring someone who has to pee often so they can get beer each time they go.

The best part about the seats.  Drunken young Cubs fans, get a good show of nice butts while the players are stretching in the outfield (nobody has yet to top Alfonso Soriano's tush), and the players actually come up and joke with the crowd.

Only strategy you need to know is "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in drunken fashion during the 7th inning stretch.

  • I think you nailed it with the suggestion to bring a friend who pees often :p

  • Watch 4 Days in October. It's an ESPN film about the 2004 ALCS. If that doesn't make you love baseball (and the Sox!), nothing will.
TTC #1 since Feb. '12. dx: "unexplained" IF
