WWYD?

A month ago we signed up for the daycare gym, my two were there for a total of two days/hour each time. During this time we came home with pink eye & a sinus infection! (I SAH so I don't think they picked it up at home with me). We're on the mend, I haven't worked out in two weeks because of my whole family getting ill. This is the first time they were sick.

Would you stay away from the daycare? Or 'kids are going to get sick?'... I want to work out, but it's been awful with two snotty sick babies the last two weeks!

Thoughts?

  • Ugh, that would be a hard call to make :( They do have to get sick sometime, but I would totally be hesitant to bring them back, too. Especially since it's not like they just had some little sniffles. It's not like you're afraid of germs, you just don't want to willingly put yourself through what you went through the last two weeks! Totally understandable.

  • Kids are going to get sick.  I'd still go.  It's good for them to experience DC, and even though getting sick sucks, it'll toughen up their immune systems.  G got double pinkeye and a double ear infection the 2nd day of daycare, and they clean stuff really well every day.  It happens.  I

  • I would say go. I understand the hesitation, but its best for their immune systems to allow them to go near toys/other sick kids.

  • I would still bring them. We learned quickly to make sure we washed her hands and gave her a bath on days we went to public places. The first time we went to a park she got sick, and we realized we didn't wash her hands when we left.

I have decided to make decisions based on my sanity. So in this case, is going to the gym to get some me time and time to work out worth it to deal with sick kids?

If I were a sahm, I would do it. The kids will have fun, and they will get less sick over time. Plus, you will be showing them healthy habits by taking time out for yourself to work out.

  • Kids get sick. Better to build up some immunity now.
