Tuesday Randoms

Is everyone still in an Easter candy coma or what?!?  This board is way too slow.

Any vents, confessions, AW's, randoms, pet peeves?  Post them here!

Re: Tuesday Randoms

  • Working from home today thanks to my BP being high again at OB appt yesterday (then go to L&D and it goes back to normal). So hello 24 urine sample. fun fun. Anyway....

Have the View on in the background and they showed a clip of the new Tori Spelling show and it is them in therepy talking about their sex life. He said they did it once every 2 weeks and that wasn't enough. Um...... ok. You have 4 kids. MEN.

  • I was really looking forward to the return of the Gobblerito at Mad Mex tonight, until I realized that it is next Tuesday.  I'm glad I didn't miss it, but now I have to wait another week for some Thanksgiving goodness!

Our kitchen will finally be done this week, I'm so excited to see how it all looks and am happy to get back to a normal and semi-organized state.

My confession is that I still have not registered Mason for Kindergarten yet.  Due to part denial, part forgetful, and part lazy.  My goal is to register him by next week!

  • I have another big burrito birthday coupon and it expires today. I may make my husband go out to dinner tonight.

I so need to clean my house. I seriously have not done laundry in over a week. I have no motivation.

  • I read an article in US about Tori/Dean and I get the feeling that she's done with him, but is making him do this reality show to at least make some money off of his infidelity before she kicks him out for good.   She implied that he isn't staying there with her.

interesting.... they even said on the view that most therepist do not allow themselves to be filmed....
  • I was washing my hands in the bathroom sink last night when I saw two antennae sticking out of the overflow hole. I tired to grab it with a tissue, but my attempt was fruitless. I decided to face my fears a couple of hours later (due to it being mainly the boys' bathroom and I didn't want them screaming in the middle of the night if they got up) and I found a HUGE water roach on the sink. I managed to maim it with the soap bottle, then finish it off with the stone toothbrush holder. I still have goosebumps, as I type this out. Before this, it was just your run-of-the-mill cockroach I would randomly find in that same bathroom. Time to let the landlord know they're going to have to treat.

But seriously, if any of my friends dare to complain about stinkbugs this year, I'm mailing them a water roach! Stupid Texas.

Househunting down here is crazy. Most houses go under contract within days, if they are priced right. The economy is booming, but I'm getting stressed after a failed contract last week - and I'm very ticked about losing hand money, and the inspection money, over that one.

My kids are on my last nerve - between Sean's screeching and climbing stage, Conall hitting age 4 - the "screw you Mom" stage - and then Gavin's moodiness and general attitude. Overall he is a great kid, but he can be such a brat! They're under after-school house arrest for the remainder of this week due to blatant defiance and disrespect of their toys.

    :(

Roaches are the worst!  When I lived in South Carolina we had "palmetto bugs".  Call it what you will, but it's still a roach to me.  We had some wood roaches in our house after is was built (apparently that common will all the dirt being moved).  Not cool seeing one in the kitchen; I was ready to move out.

  • We just had a baby celebration at work and had Costco raspberry white chocolate mousse cake.  It was so good.

Oh man...how did you lose your hand money??

I'm just tired of having a house for sale...its been 6 weeks and I thought for sure we'd be under contract by now...I hate always cleaning and scrubbing everything all the time. Showings have slowed and I'm frustrated. I don't want 2 houses!!! I don't know our next steps or strategies either bc I thought for sure we'd be under contract by now since our neighborhood usually sells quickly (except this year)!!!

  • Kristen - well, I think we lose our hand money - I thought the point of hand money was to hold the house while under contract and if we bailed, they got to keep it bc the house was "off the market" for those 10 days or so. It's not a ton of $, but still.... the check hasn't been cashed yet, so I'm hoping we don't lose it!

Have you come down in price at all? Even a small reduction might help? And you're FSBO, right? Could that be hurting?

  • We are now listed with an agent (albeit the agent is a friend who is not takibg a full commission) so we are on MLS, Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, etc. it's just been frustrating as I never expected it to take this long.

I was always under the belief that the only way hand money was forfeited is if the reason you cancel the transaction was if you just changed your mine. But if your contract was pending inspection and/or financing and something fell through, they have to return it.

Have you dropped your price? It may be that you can do new construction for almost the same price.

I'll have to ask our realtor, Kris. Thanks! Like I said, I've mentally just checked it off as gone...

I've found down here, that houses in a certain price bracket go within days of being listed. Then you go up into another bracket and they sit... once they come down a bit, though, they are snapped up. Also, time of the year matters... There has not been a lot of inventory as of late bc of houses going so fast. If sellers don't want to move until the end of the school year, they are not putting it on the market until around now (to allow enough time for closing). When we listed in Pgh, we went on the week after Mother's Day. So, you might just ne ahead of the rush, too.

We're currently trying to be patient and hope that more houses come on the market withint he next couple of weeks. We have found one that we like enough to "make do" but I don't want to rush and feel like we're settling, you know?

Your house will sell - and, if not before, I bet it will be sold by July. I wouldn't fret just yet!

  • Clare - we walked on a house after a poor inspection. While we were out the inspection cost - we did get our hand money back as that was a clause in the contract. I agree - if you'd just changed your mind, that's one thing, but if it was a valid reason like issues from an inspection - you should be fine.

Same here. My brother and SIL were looking and everything they looked at was under contract in the matter of a couple days if not faster in the areas they were looking at (Bradford Woods, Wexford, Franklin Park). They ended up in new construction because they could get new and exactly what the wanted for roughly the same price as buying existing and changes what they didn't like (and by they, I mean my SIL  :P)

Good luck, the right one will come along. House buying and selling sucks so bad.
